KyoAni regularly makes massive changes to whatever they're adapting. Maid Dragon is far enough into their comfort zone that it's probably not going to be butchered, but I'll be very surprised if it's a straight adaptation

There isn't much they can change to be honest. From what I've read in the manga (which is not the whole thing) the yuri is very subtle. The dragon girl says she loves that woman, but not kiss or anything (not sure if it happens in later chapters though)
It's mostly a comedy that happens to have gay characters, instead of focusing on the sexuality. So if they really wanted to change it, the should completely change one of the main character's gender. Which is a very big change and impossible.
I think it's an exaggeration to say KoyAni hates yuri so much to go this far.

I dont see how it could be ruined tbh, nothing really happens. It's super slice-of-life ish, the only plot points we have is when a new character is introduced and thinks human-dragon friendship is bullshit, and like a true harem mc/pokemon trainer, Kobayashi tames them all. Or Tohru fights them. Or both, with the taming after the fighting.
As for the yuri, well, Tohru very much loves Kobayashi, but Koyashi doesn't reaaally reciprocate, she's more like slightly annoyed all the time, but appreciates Tohru's efforts at trying to be of use and helping out at home.
I think it's pretty yuri in the sense that Tohru's in love with her and it's about their everyday lives and shit, it's just that it doesn't go anywhere because Kobayashi is pretty neutral about it and doesn't feel "that way".
I'm guessing that it feels subtle to MacySan because of how easygoing it is? It's by no means a romance manga, Tohru's just pretty open about her 'fondness' of Kobayashi and is just overly attached all the time. So, over time, after all those chapters, it's not really anything new, and you low key because less and less conscious about how it's supposed to be romantic/sexual love (from Tohru's part).

Huh. Last time I went looking for the general opinion, people worshipped KyoAni. That was a while ago, though... I haven't watched any of their shows in years so I'm not sure what changed or if something specific happened. In any case, I'm looking forward to the Maid Dragon anime. The yuri content may or may not be one-sided (I'd say it is but sometimes I'm not so sure), but it's impossible to miss and I love the dynamic between the two main characters.

This episode of Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume was basically nonstop blushing. It looks like we'll get to compare and contrast the pair that gets to know each other (and blush a lot in the process) and the "established" pairs. That was a lot of subtext for the captain and Munemune.

Guess I'll be watching Gabriel Dropout, Urara Meirochou and Idol Jihen. Granblue might be enjoyable much like Shingeki no Bahamut and Seisen Cerberus despite the male MC...but I'm not betting much on that, plus side, at least it doesn't look like it's harem-focused.

There's also bound to be changes with any studio in order to animate the characters. Easy to make a character look good (or good enough) if you don't need to make it move or turn around on screen.

People were specifically talking about the story turning into het because, supposedly KyoAni hates yuri. Even if this was true, there is not much of "actual" yuri they can change anyway. There are not even important male characters to give the girls a het love interest.

It's subtle yuri because this is not focused on sexuality, but in every day things. Characters just happen to be gay

Weirdly I hated the extra shipping that Hibike threw in the last episode. When it's just Kumiko and Reina being all gay for each other in the middle of their otherwise obviously straight classmates, it makes it feel more like a genuinely queer story. But when more girls are getting romantic overtones to their relationships it's just a sign that none of it actually means anything, KyoAni just think girls liking girls is cute (but don't worry they're just friends!).

One of the things that made season 1 feel really unique is that het relationships were around, and yet Kumiko couldn't be less interested in being in one. Her friends even thought Shuuichi was cute, and she's just like "lol nope" to the idea of going out with him, and whenever anyone talked about cute boys she was plainly at sea - but her narration repeatedly notices good looks in women. So not only did she feel like an actually lesbian character, but her characterization had more to it than that, she's got a whole story about her realizing how much she loves music and that she wants to work her ass off to be great at it. When mainstream yuri is so often infantilizing towards its female characters it was awesome to see something like that.

So there can be only 2 genuine queer girls in a show? If it's more than two, then we go back to zero? It doesn't matter whether KyoAni does it because they find it cute. Their interactions are still pretty gay, and a few other additions don't change that. Also there were more subtle-subtext yuri in Season 1 too. Ribbons, Natsuki and the senpais. A lot of yuri shows (not that Hibike is, but the actual yuri ones) have more than 2 queer girls. But that doesn't make these characters fake gay.
Taki and Shuichi is the biggest obstacle here, not the side characters. I actually like Mizore x Nozomi.

And those who are unfortunate enough to think this might be a good yuri anime to watch, plz don't watch this garbage.

Trust me, wasting your 21 minutes on each 26 episodes of this shit is not worth.

If the manga wasn't bad and retarded enough, anime is here is to compete with that stupidity.

The yuri genre added to this anime is purely clickbait. You might be teased in some episodes about yuri before butchering it completely as the main character you think will have yuri relationship will grab stranger's dick, forcing them to kiss her, getting turned on while being raped and won't mind making out her with "supposedly sister".

The story is nothing too special. An average story with average to cheesy fights. Ithe soundtrack are decent not bad. But nothing special too.

There were only two characters interesting in this story and you won't be surprised that its not our heorine. And two only interesting characters are killed off even though their deaths having zero impact to the story even them being important in storyline.

Overall, a shameful act to attract people by pasting yuri genre on itself. Devilman Lady is a rightfully forgettable and uninteresting anime.
