I think that's what the author wants us to believe. And maybe it actually did. I just noticed that the main character was "Classmate N" and the author was Nei...though someone with a better grasp of these things could maybe give a better reason for why those letters were chosen.

I thought the author was korean because this doujin doesn't feel like a japanese work but she's actually taiwanese i think.

My first thought when seeing this mask was Kuchisake-onna. But yea, it's most likely due to sanitary reasons.
Wish that this author would leave an afterword, I'm now curious if that really happened or not.
