Why must most Akaga doujin be sad & depressing?

Great to see something about the fairies. I always wondered if they actually had their own personalities and what happened to them in battles...I'll just keep thinking they don't die and just magically disappear to come back again.

Honestly, I never understood the existence of the fairies. I mean, they're absurdly cute but they die by the dozen and NO ONE CARES. Why not just use unmaned vehicles? Is really needed to break my heart like this? T_T

I didn't cry, but for someone who doesn't cry often my eyes did get moist. On another note, it'd be cool if kancolle did a episodic format and basically animated a doujin for each episode, it'd be less conventional but interesting and emotional to watch.
