I get that the whole point is Ooma being a reincarnated demon lord or whatever, but this is getting so repetitive. Do we really need a flashback every single chapter just to illustrate how their relationship was back then? Is it not enough to just show Ooma and Riri's relationship as it is now, without constantly interrupting the flow of each chapter for useless flashbacks?
That house is a little too empty

Personally I enjoy the flashbacks filling us in on the past, fleshing out the world along with people's feelings and the social dynamic at the time, and maybe the most important thing is how the past informs our protagonist to act differently now. It works very well in opinion.
yeah every chapter makes it ever clearer that Ooma is at every opportunity being pushed to say something, to do something to step out against the easy path and tell not just Riri but everyone she knows that yes she is in love and yes she wants to date and yes she HAS to clarfiy because she's spent a lifetime chickening out.
I love riri revenge. what a fun series.
If this story gets axed in 20 chapters i will be so goddam sad
Thats my demon lord! Good job!
Ooma's face when she realized she gets to have tea with Riri was so damn adorable.
Yeah I don't trust Zai at all.
And ouch Riri hearing what she did when they were still demons Ooma you idiot. Even the demons seemed to be okay that she was your fiancé so you were the only dense one that kept her waiting.
Really love that Ooma legit is trying to completely change from when they were the Demon Lord doing the exact opposite. like someone pointed out above. Ooma thought of that time when she legit said she's not her fiancé and all but shunned Riri. To now outright telling everyone it was Riri she wore cute clothes for and it was Riri she went on the date with. Character progression in a Yuri manga not even eight chapters in!? What is this blasphemy?

Yeah, I wouldn’t call them useless but at some point is just, idk, it’s like the author has zero faith in our memory or our reading comprehension
Honestly the more chapters the more I prefer the one-shot idea, I don’t think this manga is going to be long either, at max 20-30 chapters, first it comes from a one-shot, second it a premise that if you extend it gets repetitive. I am pretty sure the final line will be after they show us what truly happened with Ooma in her previous life
Personally I really like Zai haha

I'm glad we got that misunderstanding out of the way quickly, but in the end we never found out what Zai wanted...

They're not useless, though. They're always specifically past mistakes she's correcting now in her new life. Pretty much what most of this manga has been about, as I've repeatedly commented before.
Riri's room is so sparse. It seems like Ooma is really the only thing she's living for these days.
Well, that isn't the room of someone living somewhere long term and now Riri's putting things off.

In addition to what the others said, the past chapters aren't just about showing us how Ooma messed up in their past life. They also gradually give us more information about who these characters were and what that world was like. For example, after some of the earlier chapters, some people speculated that maybe part of what held Ooma back in their prior life was some sort of social situation that would have prevented them from being together (which was pretty reasonable, given what we knew about the setting), but this chapter makes it clear that, no, not only could they have been together, but everyone else thought they already were, to the point where they included Riri in formal invitations to Ooma.

Let's be fair though, the social circumstances were being invoked to tell us why Riri couldn't move the relationship forward. Which every chapter since has very much continued to prove. It's not that Ooma and Riri were of different classes and thus unsuitable for each other it's that Ooma was the only one who had the power to actually allow them to start dating/get engaged because Riri as Ooma's retainer simply didn't have the social allowance to do so.
And also as they used to be het (thankfully no longer the case) the onus was always on Ooma to ask Riri out regardless. Though there's something to be said about how the new life is giving Riri the chance to force Ooma's hand a little but also the two of them are no longer bound to traditional gender roles because Ooma is now a girl. In addition she's also now younger than Riri and yet she is the one actively pursuing the relationship in defiance of how courtship is expected to work.

Mm I have a hard time trying to explain what I mean in eng but my point (not the original poster) was that even though the flashbacks are not useless, resorting to the same visual resource in all the chapters make it lose cohesiveness (for me)

That's fair, though for me it's cohesive and the jumps between past and present work well as an interwoven narrative.
I think Zai is less an untrustworthy individual and more here to be a third party so we can see what someone besides Ooma and Riri thought about things from an external perspective. Unfortunately I think Ooma has forgotten that he was about to say something right before he got interrupted.

Stories can have different levels of linearity and different people will vibe with them differently, just like any other thematic or styalistic choice. Simply jumping back and forth between two time periods is relatively tame, as far as these things are concerned (compared to something like Memento or Cloud Atlas), but if that's not your thing, than it's not your thing. Personally, I like it when authors push the bounds of how they handle chronology.

I don’t want to go too Off-topic, so this is my last!
I know there are different levels of linearity, never stated if I liked or not flash-back (which in fact I love) or lineal chonology, the conversation is not really about liking or not different forms of chronology, my point was how they were handled in this specific story. They feel didactic and/or some sort of Level Up in a game.

I hope this doesn't get axed the premise is promising and wholesome

Yeah I don't agree there, but ah well lol
