Alright! I will not tolerate this lugubrious piece of pea slander that could only be uttered by a bilaterally symmetrical bottom of the barrel hominid. I hate this libel with every fiber, denatured protein and apoptotic cell of my being. Blood has been spilled for less.

First, let us dissect Riko's complaint:
"Awful texture, a taste & smell like leaves and so bitter," she says committing an act of distaste rivaled only by Chris Kempczinski's reluctant bite of his company's burger.

The phrase, a taste & smell like leaves, is utterly uninformative. Why? Because there are hundreds to thousands of distinct volatile compounds in leaves. It is a genuine disservice to place the odor and flavor of peas in the same category as the leaves and blossoms of the Bradford pear. (Which, if you don't know, smell similar to rotting meat.)

Secondly, the texture and bitterness of peas has much to do with the development of starches. Plants produce the energy-carrier ATP and the hydrogen carrier NADPH through photosynthesis. Then, the Calvin cycle performs carbon fixation (using RuBP) and uses those two types of molecules to produce trioses (which are 3 carbon sugars, through redox reactions) and other byproducts before regenerating the RuBP using fresh ATP and NADPH. In peas that are plucked from the vine, this final process of regeneration is sabotaged, and stored sugars and trioses are turned into starches. The trioses undergo several transformations to form ADP-glucose. ADP-glucose is transformed into amylose starch by the starch synthetase enzyme, amylose is transformed into amylopectin starch by the starch branching enzyme and you end up, in a short few hours, with a pea depleted of all its natural sugars.

How does this affect flavor and texture you ask? Well, sugars, y'know, are flavorsome. And if you get rid of the sugars you get rid of what tastes good, which means they can't mask these nasty tasting things called saponins. While there are a few tasty saponins, most (including those found in peas) are bitter, astringent and unwholesome. Certain individuals and younger children especially have a higher sensitivity to bitter tasting compounds and can perceive them more strongly. Additionally, the starches in peas have an unpleasant waxy texture instead of the yielding texture of high sugar content hypertonic peas.

Tldr; Peas should be bought very fresh, within hours of being picked. If you cannot do so, may I suggest the greatest convenience food of all time, the frozen pea? By freezing the peas, they do not undergo starch conversion and remain sweet.

In other words, it's all Yuuka's fault. (I mean duh, she was arguing for natto curry and natto pizza in the opening pages of the opening chapter: biggest hear me out of all time.) Do not blame the innocent pea, for it is all Yuuka's fault. She should have gotten the tasty frozen peas instead.

Yuuka is evil for putting peas in that...Everyone (Okay maybe just 89% of population) has a horrible vegetable that they hate and can't eat. Could have cook it separately and add it in later or separated rich pile/something.

9 times out of 10, it's an issue with technique or preparation. Almost every common vegetable can be made tasty if treated well. Not all vegetables are equal but still. Also I ranted so hard that I forgot to mention that salt cancels out bitterness perceptually. Most people think that adding sugar makes things less bitter (hence the word bittersweet and all its connotations,) but sugar just complements and balances bitterness, makes it harmonious with the rest of the flavors so to say. It's salt that obliterates the perception of bitter compounds. If you add enough, eventually you won't even taste the bitterness, it'll just be salty.

That is my trick to eating bitter melon.

But unless your grandma gives you a bunch of them and you feel obligated to consume them or the Chinese store has a giant bag of them for sale for 1USD only and you're too broke to afford real vegetables, don't eat bitter melon. It's not worth it, way more bitter than arugula/rockets.

Having them either stir-fried or boiled makes them much more enjoyable to eat

This chapter was super adorable. And the fact that both sisters sleep exactly the same gave me quite the laugh.

And Riko falling through space over and over again after the back hug was also amazing.

Aika falling harder than expected as well I expected this to stay very one sided for most of it's run but she's getting jealous of her friends and basically just confessed her feelings for Riko to them lol.

Aight, I'll be honest—I don't know how to feel about this story. On one hand, it's actually pretty well written if you ignore certain aspects. The characters feel alive, complex, and multifaceted rather than one-dimensional, so I'd recommend it to people who enjoy this kind of story. I'm not into loli at all and usually avoid it, but a friend of mine (same as I) who came across this read it out of curiosity and said it was surprisingly good, so I gave it a try. Overall, it's actually funny and enjoyable outside of its main elements. I think the author does a decent job of making Riko's attraction to Aiko feel less creepy, though it still makes me uncomfortable. At least it doesn't come across as a self-indulgent fetish story like many others in the genre, so I'll give it credit for that. In short, this is a pretty great story so far (ignoring the lolicon aspects). It still isn't my cup of tea, but I'm curious as to how this one will go about itself.

Potentially, but most likely no? Without some development, the plot could easily stall at this point. But if Aika confesses, suddenly Riko is in a terrible spot. Her ability to see herself as a good person is contingent on her lolicon-ness being an affliction she is trying to cure, not an intrinsic feature of her personality. If she accepts Aika's confession, her self-image collapses, and how she develops or regresses from there is anyone's guess. If she rejects, Aika is going to have to confide in someone to cope. If she confides in her sister, then Riko's best friend now knows she's a lolicon and probably into her little sister, turning every conversation into even more of a mine field. If she confides in her school friends, then who knows who they might tell and how the story might mutate in the retelling, wreaking havoc for Riko in other ways.

Whichever way it goes, I expect glorious chaos.

Sorta. A lot of these sorts of stories don't have the protagonist actually be a lolicon at all, with the protag's one unfortunate age gap relationship being depicted as a one-off event. The character may have an "Am I a lolicon now?!" panic attack, but ultimately decides those fears are unfounded when they fail to have the same reaction to other children. Of the ones where they are textually lolicons, many of them are short/oneshot thin books where the aftermath isn't really considered. In the rare few cases where I've seen a story about a lolicon in a serious, long-term relationship (most of which are Itou Hachi tbf), the older partner gets off less on the literal age of their partner and more of the extreme difference in age and power. Depending on the exact ages involved, they have a good 10+ years before that disparity equalizes in any real way.

To be clear, "they can only start relationships with children" isn't...wrong, exactly? But it's not a unique situation, either. It's pretty common for people to realize that partner is no longer within their usual strike range, but the preexisting romantic devotion can persist regardless so long as both parties continue to nurture that connection.

I'm a bit disappointed by the apparent direction. The initial setup of "I'm into little girls, that sucks and I'm trying to cope" was pretty interesting. Having an 8 year old 'fall' for her reduces the realism and undermines the premise.

I've also no idea where this manga ultimately will land on. like you said it's an interesting premise but even since the early chapters from the way Aika is drawn in specific focused panels (and including this very newest chapter) it seemed to go against that premise at least from the author's intent. though to be fair Riko has gotten some focused panels like this too, so.
