Yup, definitely the same bat familiar/kin (Chapter 4. How long do vampires live anyways...We know they live for atleast 1000 years max lifespan...But 10,000 years sound like they would be dead already. Kind of like how some human can 100+ year life sentence for their crimes)

May be a little late, but I abruptly recalled where I'd seen a succinct description of the phenomenon and became determined to post the image. We'll see if I can get it to work.
