I am actually surprised how popular the ship is despite from what I've seen and heard since I haven't played the game yet, Marnie not doing much during the story and apparently doesn't even have much of a relationship with the mc? that being said she is my favorite character design and I am glad the fans picked up this ship, even if there isn't much weight for it in canon, now I only hope something during the rest of the gen, be it the PokéSpe manga the anie or a new Galar game, gives Marnie more to expand her character.

@Zexalfan: there's a few cute interactions (that do not differ by the MC's gender unlike those with Lillie in Sun and Moon) but the popularity likely stems mostly from it being seen as a successor to Chicken X Lillie.

^Which scenes differed between gender in Sun and Moon? There was a scene deleted in X and Y for the female player, but I don't remember them doing that in SM

^ There was only one line that was changed between the male and female protagonists with Lillie in Sun and Moon, which was the Exeggutor Island rain cutscene. If the protagonist is male, she say that when she becomes a trainer, she'd like to travel together with them. While if the protagonist is female, she simply says that she wants to learn all of the things they know.

That said, all of the other scenes remained the same so it's really not that big of a deal in my opinion.
