@Ultrazion It's...complicated. Rhea is crazy with grief and implanted her dead mother's crest stone (a stone containing both the power and soul of her mother, the goddess Sothis) into a number of homunculi in order to try to resurrect her. One of these failed experiments fell in love with and produced a child with a man (who Rhea also gave blood to for some reason so it's EXTRA forbidden). The child was stillborn and the homunculus begged Rhea to implant the crest stone inside her into the child to save its life. Rhea did this, which resulted in the homunculus dying and the child harbouring and being compatible with the soul of Sothis, who can occasionally chat with Byleth and chills inside her soul. So, Byleth is kinda this weird daughter/clone abomination of Rhea's mom. As for the sex part, you can technically romance Rhea as F!Byleth and Rhea clearly has some mommy issues to work out, so...

Personally, I had my doubts about Rhea after she had all the Western Church followers executed, and after reading Jeralt's diary, joining up with Edelgard(my female Byleth's eventual wife) was a fairly easy choice.

All I said was true except the to have sex with her part that was a joke. But yeah rhea's obsession with sothis is on the crazy yandere girlfriend side rather than the daughter wanting her mother back
