Is this still ongoing or was Ch.10 the official ending? I expected this to go until the final 100th day of the challenge at least.

Ending for manga. It was always meant to cover the first novel, or so. There's lots of wholesome novels afterwards that continue their relationship as they hit dating milestones, etc. Still ongoing.

Binge read and thought it was generally lovely and wholesome… given the tags I was braced for chapter 8 to be rough, but it seemed super clear from her thoughts and actions that Marika was very into it? Brat/brat tamer dynamic + sub space stuff was also very clear especially given the prior chapter. Actually, Marika has been clearly doing the sub space thing since early chapters. Yes, explicit consent is better IRL, misread signals and you will wreck your life and inflict massive harm, and consent play needs extraordinary communication. It shows very risky behaviors, but I don’t see non-consent.

That's a debate as old as time here for whatever reason but I agree with you. It really is a wholesome story even given the premise, especially the rest of the novels.

MAL says the manga should have a third volume as well.

Yes, the manga has three volumes. OH! I didn't realize that person said chapter 10. Whoops. The manga ends at chapter 15. Sorry. I didn't realize Dynasty stopped at Volume 2. According to the author, those 15 chapters were always meant to cover only the first volume of the novels, seemingly regardless of sales. I'm pretty sure it could have kept going otherwise. The manga's stopping point is a solid one anyway. I think there are about six or seven novels now, right? I haven't read the most recently released ones.

The third volume is quite good (but is a bit shakier for scanlator work than first two?). I hope we get it on dynasty at some point.

Mangadex has it to chapter 15, ending the manga.

There are "fan" translations of 5 novels, I think linked somewhere in this thread. None are good, though there's a change halfway through in how they're bad. Probably the later ones are MTL, it was hard to tell how the first ones went wrong. I was still able to extract some perception of plot, and yuri BDSM fun.

Thank you for the sources! I was able to finish Ch 15 on mangadex. It was overall an enjoyable story. I thought the ending was absolutely precious with plenty of lovey-dovey feels. I'm satisfied with the ending.

Though I'm trying to make sense of why Aya decided it would be better if she maintained the image of Marika's rival and opposition, and thought if she revealed her feelings it would only get in the way. So she decides it's okay for Marika to hate her and see her as a villain. This is explained in ch 14 but I'm having trouble understanding why she thought this was necessary. if anyone can share their thoughts on this.

She was determined to fulfill her role as Marika had requested, striving to "give" as much as she "took" according to her understanding of those terms. She didn’t want to feel like she was taking advantage of Marika. To achieve this, she couldn’t treat their arrangement like a typical relationship. Instead, she had to continually remind herself that she was playing a "character," whose purpose was to save Marika.

Without this mental distinction, she feared being overwhelmed by Marika’s kindness and losing sight of the "job" she believed she needed to do. She understood Marika's strong will, recognizing that Marika would be able to handle anything thrown her way. Therefore, she wasn't as worried about the buttons she'd push. Of course she had her hopes for what could blossom between them and noticed Marika's enjoyment very quickly. It was always a delicate balance for her.

Does anybody know of/have a link to a translation of volume 7 of the LN? I've read up to the end up 6 and can't find anything else!

Huh, I'd only read through vol 5.

I love this chapter, so it’s great to see it get a better translation here :)

Things that are just good in this chapter:
- Marika acknowledging internally that she is in love and the brat tamer dynamic being better communicated / clearly consensual
- Dealing with being gay and thoughts on coming out and hurtful assumptions in a really clear and direct way that a lot of yuri side steps
- Marika being a literal card carrying lesbian and her friends definitely being like “huh”… but she’s still not mentally grouping herself as a lesbian when thinking about lesbian spaces and support

A lot of Arioto isn’t realistic, but this pivot chapter is a wholesome, gentle, grounded, and funny development in Marika’s gradual process of understanding what it means to be queer.

The only thing I can find about an "ananai" is a series called "planet ladder" but that's not so much a yuri manga as it is a narushima yuri manga

I've read all the chapters, and the series concludes with Chapter 15. It actually finished, or at least was fully translated by other scan groups, last December. So, seeing it still marked as ongoing on Dynasty was a pleasant surprise. :)

Well, that was a nice surprise... ^_^

And I still have no idea how she can still think she hasn't already lost that bet a long time ago.

Even more so now that she's acknowledged her friends' relationship.

It's a kink at this point, but I also think it's meant to highlight how much of an unreliable narrator and tsundere she's been since chapter 1. She's been down bad since near the start. Now it just gets to be more obvious and comedic because its even less subtle than before (and it wasn't subtle then either).

This chapter (or equivalent pages) in the LN is when I became a ride or die for this series. We’ll see more in the upcoming onsen trip, but Marika really is just addicted to goalpost moving. Even after acknowledging that she’s definitely gay and loves her girlfriend she still has to find a way to win the bet. That’s fun, I like it. And we all know how that’s going to end up.

The friends being a couple the whole time genuinely surprised me, and was my sign that, problematic elements and all, this series has a good heart. Very wholesome indeed.

With the hindsight of a year or two, that one part feels even more surreal. Most of volumes 1-2 conjure a pretty straight-forward smutty romance with a dubcon and "straight girl" conversion theme, but then... The reader is probably not supposed to think anything of what happened in chapter 8-9, and were it a random one-shot I wouldn't either, but the speed at which the story moves on and switches gear to romance and coming-of-age fluff turns it into an elephant in the room for me. I know I'm supposed to forget about it, but... I mean, it's right there.

This is not meant to be criticism exactly, I'm just processing. I find the decision to interrupt the lighthearted lesbian smut with unambiguous sex crimes, only to sweep them under the rug expeditiously, fascinating. It's exactly because the rest of the story is so cute that that part sticks out so much to me. Rather than 'unrealistic' its very randomness makes it feel more 'realistic', even though Teren Mikami, agent of chaos that they are, probably just thought it would be funny.

Ch 8, the 'rape' scene? I think it's mostly confusingly (poorly?) written. It's not just that the story moves past it or forgets about; right in that scene Marika switches from "no" to "let me pleasure you". And then right afterwards they're cuddling and Marika is asking "what do you really think of me?"

Rape, or Marika playing hard to get, or existing consensual non-consent? Aya probably thought it was the second or third. And even Marika's own thoughts don't really clarify her feelings: "if you really hate it that much, just push her away and go home."

Oh! This isn't over! Huh!

This chapter is really cute, it's nice to see Marika come to terms with the splash damage of her flippant comments and feel contrite about it.

Yume probably missed it, but I really hope Chisaki at least thinks to ask why she has a card for a lesbian bar in Shinjuku and knows not to go there in school uniform. (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
