Finally caught up with the series, first time reading since Vol 3 and my god how the vibes changed - for the better I'd say.
I dropped this series initially because of that one chapter where Ruruka went a bit too far - so I'm kinda glad to see the series move on from that while not losing any edge. I do miss at times the shithead Itsumi used to be in the beginning, it was fun to have the protagonist be a terrible person, but I think this was such a well done and engaging way to develop that shithead into a gigachad harem queen so I'm down with it.
Although the prez was the dominant ship in the beginning, the shift makes sense because Rin is the first character to fall for Itsumi without any drugs, their love seems the most wholesome and natural to me. The invitation to Itsumi's house was the first truly wholesome chapter in the series, really set the way for how the manga would go forward. The confession came at an appropriate time and I was all giddy and happy for them. The irony that Itsumi was the only one ever drugged between their relationship, and how immediately after the drug she could only think of Rin... IT'S LIKE POETRY. IT RHYMES.
Kurohime, bless her heart, but I think I just love the dynamic between Rin and Itsumi a bit more. She is so sweet and I wish nothing but happiness for her tho.
I love Yanagi, what a blessed character design, and definitely my second favorite ship with Itsumi. When they kissed in front of Rin that was some spicy shit holy fuck. I love how more forward she is and the Karaoke episode was pretty hot too. She's probably the gayest character in the series too and while I do not particularly understand her logic behind pinning Nekawa down, she's getting pussy where she can and I respect the fuck out of that.
The ship with Mukai is also pretty cute, I am ALWAYS a sucker for "the bullied saves the bully and the now former bully falls for the bullied" trope (i.e. FuukaNatsu from Persona 3) but it is a fairly recent ship so we'll have to see where it goes. I was glad to see she marked the return of the love potion (I was starting to miss it) and she has basically confessed already - always appreciate more forwardness.
I also have to mention Himari - MADOKA BLESS muscular women - she still has feelings for Itsumi according to the dodgeball arc? Although we haven't seen much since the Cops and Robbers arc. I do like her a lot tho, I am still holding out hope we could see SOMETHING from her with Itsumi.
I'm honestly down for some drama between the love interests, a fucking WAR is brewing here. Rin hasn't interacted much between others since she goes to a different school, so it'd be really juicy to see some of that in the future.
I also appreciate the line drawn against incest - Arare seems like the worst character in the series and Itsumi saying to her face she doesn't like her was well deserved. Even putting aside my hatred towards incest, she's just a manipulative bastard.
Other minor ships like Loki x Mai, Banryu x Prez are not gone unappreciated either. However, even though it's a bit problematic, my fav side ship is Yamamura x Tsubasa. Is Yamamura taking advantage of her student coming out to her? Yes. Isn't that kinda fucked up? Yes. BUT THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT HOT NO?? Tsubasa turning out to be such a lesbian failure and her meeting with a dommy mommy who fucks her up - I'm sorry, it's peak.
All in all, crazy how peak this series has become. Can't wait for the drama to set in and we need more love potions PLEASE
