I don't seem to be receiving subscriptions notifications the last few days. For example this is a series I'm subscribed to and the latest chapter was uploaded almost 24 hours ago now. Usually I receive notifications within a few hours of chapters being uploaded but there's nothing for it. The latest chapter of Killing Me! has been uploaded just over 24 hours and I didn't get a notification for that either, though the previous chapter was the second to last notification I've gotten from the site.

All outgoing mail from the server is being blocked currently, probably some anti-spam system was put in / changed somewhere. I'll see if I can fix it, but no eta at the moment.

It'd actually be pretty simple to implement the way I have it too. All my script does is take the discussion link, add "/unread" to the end like the forums themselves do for threads with unread posts, then insert it as a new link just after the discussion link.

I did consider having the discussion link go to unread by default, tbh I forget why I didn't set it like that in the end.

Omnscient0, different errors now. https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=dynasty-scans.com says that only TLS 1.2 is enabled, a lot of the 4.* family of Android (and some later Samsung and other weird devices, they may have 1.2 there but disabled in firmware) only support TLS 1.0, also some of the ciphers may be unsupported... I may be able to do something about it in the app, but it still causes trouble with UC browser at least (downloaded it just to check)

I adjusted the config to support TLS 1.0 and 1.1, and changed the cipher list as well. Still experiencing issues?

The new SSL configuration doesn't let me use the Android app (Oneesama) from my 4.4 Android device anymore, there may be an issue with certificate chains (android is very fiddly about that) or having only the newest TLS which it doesn't support.

I made some changes to the SSL settings, does it work now?

I have setup HTTPS and am now forcing all traffic to use it. Let me know if you encounter any issues with it.

I am going to do some tests about optimizing some images, and see what expected gain is. If its really up to 50% then for sure will, but if its only 5%-10% on average it might not be worth it.

I am skeptical how much a free CDN like Cloudflare would help. The biggest issue is overall bandwidth used, and over a large quantity of different images so it wouldn't cache well. An actual CDN would be amazing, but would cost a non trivial amount.

Is there really much size to be saved by losslessly optimizing current images? They should already be optimized pretty well when they are released by the scanlation group. There are probably a few outliers that weren't exported properly, but not sure if it is worth re-processing the entire collection for those outliers. The bigger issue I feel would be releases that are in a much higher quality then needed for web viewing (ex. 2400px tall) that I have noticed at times.

There are almost no GIF and TIF images on the site currently.

HTTPS is something I have been meaning to do for a while. As well as doing a pass on fixing bugs on mobile.

Gzip compression has always been enabled and appears to be working fine for me.

Has there ever been any intention of adding HTTPS to this site?

With letsencrypt it's now easy, free and can be done completely automatic.

Its something I have been meaning to add, now that free certs are much more freely available.

I have had to remove forum post searching, it was causing significant performance issues. I will look into reimplementing to avoid that, but going to remove it in interim.

I implemented categories for the forums, so it is easier to go back and read topics not about chapter discussions. You can filter which category you view with the dropdown next to Post a New Topic, and when you create/edit a topic you can set the category for it.

If there is interest I can add a few more endpoints for it. What would you be using it for?

A suggestion, could we separate the "discuss this chapter" of a manga 'chapter-by-chapter'? For example, if I'm on chapter 2 of "stretch", I want to be able to comment only on its second chapter and not the whole discussion topic (thus, I am not the most recent poster, unless I comment on the latest chapter available). And I could also see only the posts made in that chapter I was reading.

I did consider this when I was implementing discussions, but ultimately decided it was better to have discussions per series. Mainly because I think most of the discussion will be focused around latest chapter anyway.

Wouldn't it be nicer to seperate chapter discussion from a general forum? A new 'general' topic would get lost fairly quickly between all the chapter discussions which get bumped frequently, which is probably the reason why I haven't seen one yet (please correct me if I'm wrong). Only if people here are interested in talking more besides just commenting on the chapters, of course.

I am not sure if there is enough interest in discussing other topics for it to be worth having separate forums.

I have been thinking about implementing a filter where you could view only general topics, or only discussion topics, or both (the default).

Thanks for the support, but we do not currently accept donations. The server we use has generously been provided to us for free. With no costs there is no need for donations, if this situation changes we would probably start accepting them.

Also, is it possible to separate the discussions of series into chapter discussions? This way the discussions can be cleaned up, there's less chance of people running into spoilers, and users who read at a time later than the release date can be included in the conversation as though they read it when it was released.. Or would that be too difficult to do since you'd have to manually separate the older discussions?

I don't think that is a good idea, I think they work better when consolidated by series. I think it is fairly common sense that if you don't want spoilers to not discuss it online if you are not update to with it.

And a support question. Occasionally I get stuck at the "Loading..." message for quite a while. Other sites usually load quickly whenever I get this. Sometimes I can click again to the page after but that would mean having to skip a page. This happened once when reading Ch 9 of Citrus with the 2 page layout of Mei seeing Yuzuru being kissed by Matsuri. It is most likely just caused by the server being under heavy load. There is not much we could really do except move to a server with more capacity, but that is expensive and not really feasible.

I think he is referring to the "Add notified chapters to To Read list". I should just make the notifications check against the white/blacklist as well, currently they only affect the homepage/recently added page..

What is unacceptable about it? All chapters are uploaded as quickly as possible, unless an upload delay was requested by the group.

If you think a new tag should be created, just create a post in this thread about the tag and which chapters/series it should apply to.

You have whitelist tags set to Yuri Romance Futanari Bullying. Which means it will only show Recently Released/Added chapters which contain all of those tags, which there aren't any.
