I have added a few additional JSON end points for anyone that is interested.

http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters.json / http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/added.json for recently released/added chapters.

http://dynasty-scans.com/pairings.json for all the directory indexes.

http://dynasty-scans.com/scanlators/dynasty_scans.json for all the specific directory pages.

from Thiron's compilation post:

Forum

[...]
* Direct links to a specific post
[...]

anonymous (link):

Suppose you go to the post history of a user.
e.g. http://dynasty-scans.com/forum/posts?user_id=2
For a given post, you want to open the thread of that post to see the context.
You click on the thread subject at the top of the post.

Ideally, it should bring you to the page of the thread that the post is on.

Right now, it brings you to the first page of the thread.

Nezchan (link):

Well, it would be nice to have permalinks to individual posts in general. Don't have that functionality atm.

Alice Cheshire (link):

It does technically (with a bit of an exception) if you inspect the page source for the post history pages. For the most recent post in the search history linked above for example the post is forum_post_49678. If you're on the right page of the thread then it will actually link directly to that post if you add #forum_post_49678 to the end of the url for that thread. The only issue is that you do need to be on the right page or else it doesn't work. As an example this will link straight to your post.

Right, so as pointed out by Alice Cheshire, "pseudo-permalinks" are implemented.
(Pseudo in that it's not a URL with a single piece of information, most likely the post ID, so something like
http://dynasty-scans.com/forum/posts/95105 )
[...]

Not sure if this was mentioned somewhere...

I see that post permalinks have been implemented! The date at the top of each post, in regular threads as well as in post history, is now a permalink!

And actually, that very example URL that I posted way back then...
http://dynasty-scans.com/forum/posts/95105
Back then, that link didn't do anything, of course.
But today, that exact link works and redirects to the proper full URL.

Minor suggestion... It's not very obvious that it is a link. On mouse hover, yes, but before that, it looks like regular non-clickable text. Perhaps it could use the styles used for all other links. Just a minor suggestion.

Anyway, this is great. It should come in handy. Nice work!

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing out that they implemented this now. I should make a note to remove that functionality from my userscript for the site in its next update.

Has Dynasty-scans thought about making an app? I think that would be really awesome.

Also, is there currently a way to follow a thread? If there is, could someone tell me how to do so and if there isn't, that would be a suggestion.

As of right now we do not have an official app. A forum member has made an unofficial application available however. http://dynasty-scans.com/forum/topics/7480-oneesama-a-simple-reader-for-android?page=1#forum_post_145446

I implemented categories for the forums, so it is easier to go back and read topics not about chapter discussions. You can filter which category you view with the dropdown next to Post a New Topic, and when you create/edit a topic you can set the category for it.

Been quiet busy for the past month or so and just saw this. Very nice and thank you very much.

I have had to remove forum post searching, it was causing significant performance issues. I will look into reimplementing to avoid that, but going to remove it in interim.

Thanks, it's gonna be very useful, although it broke the app in the process since IDs are not in the API anymore and I mindlessly used them as primary IDs for the local database. I'll fix the app of course.

Ah, I just noticed something about the recently implemented permalinks.

You need to be logged in for them to work; else, you get redirected to the login page.

For example, if someone who is not logged in clicks on this permalink:
http://dynasty-scans.com/forum/posts/152052
... they would get redirected to:
http://dynasty-scans.com/user/login?return_to=%2Fforum%2Fposts%2F152052

I don't believe that this was done on purpose? IMO, I don't think that there is any reason to restrict this functionality only to logged in users.

It would be nice if this would always work, regardless of being logged in or not.

Thanks!

Might as well try to get both of these things fixed while I'm at it.

Ajiichi's name is misspelled. (alternatively she has also written it as Aji-Ichi)

Yours and My Different Feelings should be Yours and My Different Meanings.

Can you also make it so that we can follow threads, users and stories?

Is there any way to access a chapter according to its id? For example the top release on the front page is chapter #15030. Links dealing with suggesting tags for it or adding it to a list have a "?chapter_id=15030" in the url. Is there any way to actually load the chapter using that instead of "chapters/yuri_kuma_arashi_vol_2_omake"? I was thinking I'd mess around with adding a random chapter button to my userscript but unless I did something to populate a list with all the chapters on the site (which is kinda outside the scope of what I want to bother with here) that doesn't seem to be feasible from what I'm seeing.

A suggestion that cropped up in the IRC (not mine) that sounds good, having a little icon on the Directory => Series page that indicates if a series is completed, incomplete, or abandoned/dropped. This would make it easy to tell at a glance what the series status is without having to go into each series page.

Thank you!

Super minor suggestion/minor improvement:

Right now, when deleting a post, you are brought back to the first page of the thread.

It would be nice if it kept you on the same page that you were on.

Moreover, it might be even nicer if you were on the same page and you get scrolled to the same spot that you were at.

Here is some logic which might work for this purpose:

After you delete a post...

  • you get redirected to the post right after the deleted post.

  • but if there is no post after the deleted post, i.e., the deleted post was the latest post in the thread, then you get redirected to the post right before the deleted post.

This would essentially 1) bring you back to the same page that you were on and 2) even bring you to the same spot on the page that you previously were at.

I have a glitch when using this site on my phone. The next page button when reading a doujin is located at the middle of the page instead of the right side. No matter what size or setting to read it.

Teach Me's "Chapter 0" should be renamed to something more accurate like "Q&A Extra" or something.

The new forum buttons don't have good reactive design and end up hidden on android browser. http://imgur.com/A7MKYHM
