I wouldn't say weird personally, in cases where I don't know the source material I just imagine people are shipping them based on later development that the story will eventually get to. Plus regardless, my friend told me she's seen people on social media wish death on Agott, that's a point of people needing to take a step back and a deep breath for a moment.

Yeah I wouldn't say it's bait, it's about as subtextual as they could get away with in the 2000s. There's some fanservice but the relationship itself is handled well

^ No, your understanding of the term is right. Sadly, there's too many people out there who say bait when they mean subtext

They don't use bait to mean subtext per se, they use bait to mean that they have personally been baited by non explicit yuri, I guess they're technically correct even though that's not the previously known usage of the term.

@yumethegloomy Try watching the first movie, it's not a big investment, and if you like what you see get, into Nanoha. This is a very big franchise, and most of the yuri happens off-screen and is secondary to the plot and the action, so not only watch it for the yuri. I don't know what you mean by "yuribait", that word is used in different ways and is usually reserved for trolling, but Nanoha and Fate's romantic relationship is part of the narrative of the series, but most of it is reserved for secondary material and subtext, and if you don't mind general spoilers, they're even end up canonically married in the original timeline with an adopting a child together, which is their biological daughter in another continuity, but all of this is not explicitly shown in the main material, except for adopting Vivio which they had to do since she vecame the protagonist in a later instalment.

@FluffyCow 100% agree. I was honestly shocked seeing people on other sites insulting Agott, calling her things like a bitch and worse. It feels like people just want their ships handed to them or spelled out, instead of putting two and two together and letting them grow and develop naturally throughout the show I mean it’s only episode 2. Their love-hate dynamic is clearly going to evolve into a much deeper bond and relationship! :) (speaking as someone who’s read the manga).
