^ def go watch it cuz nanoha is very good (^^) I personally think their relationship is canon but maybe some people still thinks it's yuribait.. tho their yuri is in no way fetishy, just very fluffy and sweet
edit: read other peoples thought n yeah they're def more subtext and is no way a yuribait (still very much canon in my heart ofc)

Yeah I wouldn't say it's bait, it's about as subtextual as they could get away with in the 2000s. There's some fanservice but the relationship itself is handled well

Wait, is my understanding of the term yuribait wrong? I always thought it's when the comphet pairing wins out in the end despite the yuri pairing having more development. But is yuribait for other people just subtext without on-screen confession/intimacy (i.e, NanoFate)?

^ No, your understanding of the term is right. Sadly, there's too many people out there who say bait when they mean subtext

They don't use bait to mean subtext per se, they use bait to mean that they have personally been baited by non explicit yuri, I guess they're technically correct even though that's not the previously known usage of the term.

@yumethegloomy Try watching the first movie, it's not a big investment, and if you like what you see get, into Nanoha. This is a very big franchise, and most of the yuri happens off-screen and is secondary to the plot and the action, so not only watch it for the yuri. I don't know what you mean by "yuribait", that word is used in different ways and is usually reserved for trolling, but Nanoha and Fate's romantic relationship is part of the narrative of the series, but most of it is reserved for secondary material and subtext, and if you don't mind general spoilers, they're even end up canonically married in the original timeline with an adopting a child together, which is their biological daughter in another continuity, but all of this is not explicitly shown in the main material, except for adopting Vivio which they had to do since she vecame the protagonist in a later instalment.

Bait, Fetish, and so on are commonly over used. The words can be used well but it often turns into a whole thing where social media will be dismissive in the most reductive ways unfortunately.

Sorry I should say I don’t mean that it’s bad for you to ask questions, only that at least in my opinion it’s best to take those things with a grain of salt on social media. There are a lot of people out there that throw words like those around, and unfortunately it makes some people avoid media they might actually love. So I think it’s good that you asked here and people recommended it!
