i kind of hate endings where they confess, kiss and walk off to the future together on principle, especially since they didn't even show the damn kiss my god, but it was at least beautiful and felt appropriate for the tone of the series. it was all just too predictable- you could see exactly how it would end like, years ago.

i've read too much yuri to be satisfied with this kind of fairy tale ending anymore.

Also, I'm not saying there's a particularly strong trans reading for this series, but did I, as a recently cracked egg, resonate with a story about a girl who feels like her body isn't feminine enough and like she has to adopt an unwanted masculine role in life? Yes, I resonated very strongly!

There's the telltale Enoden train, with the tracks and road along the coastline, and the island shown is clearly Enoshima with the Sea Candle on it, plus you can see the Benten bridge leading up to it.

Well, technically they're on Katase Higashihama beach (which is featured a lot in manga and anime), but I'd say it's close enough to Enoshima to count.
