I gotta say, the contrast here is a little funny.

Ningwei: I am tortured in a prison I chose. A puppet going through the motions of love still cannot be a lover. There is no light at the end of the tunnel, but I hear the echoes of the ending.
Tao: I love my GF

It's kind of really funny for Jing Xiu to go "oh by the way i'm literally the reason you're in this situation apologies but also let me explain"

Just caught up, and ough, this is still so peak. The whole thing with the cake was great, and also these are some really interesting developments with Ningwei. The onesided like, "I'm trapped in a toxic yuri and rotting inside" vs "I love my girlfriend so much but I think I fucked up but can't back out now" is an interesting dynamic, and makes a great contrast to our main duo's more emotionally grounded issues... and makes her fate in the original timeline even darker to think about. Loved her face at the "don't write this into your fanfics!" bit too lol.

What are you referring to? There's no accident that started the story.

In the original timeline, Youyan drank herself to death because Jing Xiu was getting married to someone else. That event is a couple years away in the current timeline, but has already been more or less derailed by changes to the timeline. There's no accident to escape, just a relationship to mend.

Thematically, this is a story about addressing regrets, not overcoming fate.

I don't think A'Xiu asked President Tao in either life to sign Yanyan over. What I think is more likely is that Tao just knew about Yanyan and took interest in her, because of her connection with A'Xiu. Then she either signed her over because of her talent, or to keep a closer eye on her, or - and this is my preferred theory - because she discovered Ningwei's fanfiction about the two of them.

I think it's more interesting if she did sign Youyan on due to Jing Xiu tbh. As we see in this chapter, Youyan's pride and righteous resistance to needing to suck up to other people was one of the reasons that she distanced herself from Jing Xiu in the first place. Obviously relying on connections, selling your body, etc these are all horrible things that entertainers shouldn't have to do. I think for a story as grounded as this, it's better to face these issues honestly, and not just do the cop-out "no you were special and different".

This is a moment for Ji Youyan to wrestle with these really ugly feelings, and try to come to a better conclusion than she did last time, which was drinking herself to death alone in an apartment. Like everything else in this story, their relationship and break up never feels contrived precisely because they had real flaws and problems with each other. I have no idea what the best response to this situation would be, but if she's committed to saving her relationship with Jing Xiu she has to face this stuff head on.

I think jing xiu knows ofbthe past life due to her getting extremely suspicious almost angry when Youyan drinks .

I agree, but realistically she got signed over this time a year before she got in her past life. And before she made contact with A'Xiu. That strongly suggest that she wasn't the direct cause of it. But it's also quite unlikely for Tao to not to be aware of their connections at all. Hence I think A'Xiu is probably an indirect cause, possible one of many.

A'Xiu is asking Yanyan the what if, because she wants to see how would Yanyan confront that. Would she oppose her help, like in the past? Would she push her away? At this point A'Xiu is basically considering giving Yanyan an other chance, but she is not sure. Although if you ask me, she's fallen into a deep Yanyan shaped hole long ago.
