About d**n time! Months just for that. Was nice to hear Mei tell him that her and Yuzu were in love. After so much one-sidedness, a heartfelt emotion from the ice princess. Gotta love it!
Been a hot minute, Since reading this :)
In Citrus, the love between Yuzu and Mei was always the driving force behind the story, even ahead of Aihara Academy, because if it hadn't been like that, the wedding we would have had would have been Mei and the boy manager's and Mei would already be pregnant hahaha. Citrus+ covers the story of the engaged Yuzu and Mei before the wedding and after 7 volumes the romance between Yuzu and Mei has been scarce and anyone who is not blind can see that. I'm not seeing a relationship of equals. I see a Yuzu going out of her way for Mei, but I don't see it so much on Mei's side. Sometimes I see her so cold towards Yuzu that it's scary, maybe because Sabu nerfed Mei from the beginning of Citrus+. I think Yuzu's great support in Citrus+ has been Harumin and I've seen more chemistry between them than what is supposed to be the main couple. It's my personal opinion and that's what these forums are for, to give opinions, because the other option is to disappear like most of the people who commented on this forum at the beginning of Citrus+
That's exactly how I feel. I thought C+ was supposed to lead us to the marriage by showing us the proper development of the relationship between Yuzu and Mei. And hell, we haven't seen any of that. We're still at same issues that were there from the start of the original manga, every time they seem to solve a problem the next arc they're back at square 1. Someone said that peak C+ was Matsuri-Harumi and that's correct, fans have been more involved into that than whaterver is (not) happening between the 2 main characters... They don't look like a couple, or rather they look like a couple that's been married for 80 years: there's no romance whatsoever, they barely talk to each other, and they consistently like to spend less and less time together

I agree with all that, except I somehow got the impression before Citrus + started that it was actually intended to be focused on stories about the side characters. Then once it did get going, the main premise appeared to be, as you suggest, that “starting over, properly” project that Mei came up with, pretty much out of nowhere.
But the story hasn’t really been focused on much of anything—a whole clutch of side characters have either disappeared (Shirapon, the twins), or show up only randomly (Nene), or get what looks like the start of significant development that then stops cold (Harumin and Matsuri). We’ve been given new characters (Homophobe-girl and her Nene-knockoff “girlfriend” and “I’m really not too quick on the uptake” Arata), though.
The problems with the Mei-Yuzu relationship have been documented here exhaustively, and might be measured by calculating the ratio of scenes showing a proactive Mei being romantically affectionate toward Yuzu versus those in which Mei fends Yuzu off, scolds her, tells her to mind her own business, etc. (I’m sure there must be some scenes in which Mei directly initiates affection toward Yuzu, as opposed to her deigning to accept Yuzu’s advances or Mei talking about her feelings for Yuzu with a third party—I just can’t think of any offhand this morning. Maybe other readers can help me out on that.)

Feels like we're getting pretty close to the end at this point, chapter count wise at least. I've made it very clear that I haven't been a big fan of + as a whole, but I do hope we'll at least get a few chapters of Yuzu and Mei just being a normal couple, before Saburouta-sensei is done with them. It's literally all I wanted out of Citrus+ and we got maybe 2 chapters of that, tops (^^)
Peak romance was the silent special chapter following them through their day
Matsuri is right that a random congress venue is a really weird place for a school festival.
I think I'm also very fed up with this nonsense already and hope we will get a Matsuri-Harumi spin-off out of this.
I don't think I would ever check that out if Saburouta authored it, seeing that Citrus and Citrus+ are her handiwork. One was good. 2nd, not so much.
Died in Ch. 36. Author must've been told to shut off the homo, only way it makes sense, or the manga got too famous and she couldn't handle it, or somebody spoke to her. Either way, it hasn't been real Citrus since so long ago, I will say this series was absolute peak at its top. We sure don't get too many good long running yuri mangas on this site anymore. All that stuff got shut down. Maybe has to do with the tax law.
This manga was glorious once though, doesn't seem like author has barely the strength to write it anymore.

Yup. I agree with you. Just a bunch of nothing now. No romance, no relationship growth, no nothing. No Matsuri and Harumin love story. Just boring manure at this point.

, yes, that phrase nerfed mei but not only that, sabu decided Put To the Mei the president of the Aihara Academy And his responsibilities, well above his relationship as Yuzu's girlfriend , and as a clear exponent of this was the embarrassing chapter of yuzu's birthday. yes, we all thought at the beginning of citrus + that it would focus more on the secondary characters, especially the two main characters harumin and matsuri and that seemed to be the case in vol 3 but for some reason that I do not understand, sabu closed that arc falsely to the point that from that arc onwards matsuri began to lose weight in the story and "appeared less and less " and harumin became a soul in pain since vol 4 due to his indecision about his future, which to this day we still do not know. Of the other secondary characters, Himeko is just a support character to Mei, Nene a simple meme of the harayuzu, and Shirapon and Sara and Nina disappeared unfortunately, and yet Sabu insists on bringing out new characters that nobody is interested in instead of developing the ones he already has and are familiar. The future will tell how this ends, because we are "closer" than ever to entering the final arc and seeing "if the trip has been worth it or Citrus + will be forgotten."

I find that the relationship between Yuzu and Mei is not really a backward development, but rather a forward, maturing development. When Mei told Matsuri about starting over to respect Yuzu, she did exactly that. For us who used to see the lovey dovey scenes in Citrus, the interaction between Mei and Yuzu feels cold or odd or "business like". But it is a book separation between personal and non personal (business) lives. They both knew it, otherwise Yuzu would never think of becoming a teacher, or dealing with Arata but without crossing the boundaries implied by Mei. (Its business) The color picture about the two's domestic and daily lives show that indeed the love is still pretty much there. T he only time Yuzu has a problem is concerning Arata and Mei at the beginning but that is understandable because of the trauma she suffered when Mei left her for the engagement with the cafe manager.
I actually like the new characters in C+. They serve well for our understanding of Yuzu and Mei's relationship. At the very beginning Sayaka and Miyabi openly talked about the rumors (or open secrets) about Yuzu and Mei's relationship directly behind Mei and Hmeko's back. Himeko scolded them but that did not stop Sayaka's belief and her plan of blackmail. Yuzu and Mei seem to have a don't ask don't tell attitude towards their relationship. Mei outed herself with Yuzu in the BoD meeting. Nobody objected and demanded that she must marry a husband afterwards. Yuzu then outed herself about Mei and her in the same meeting with more details. The board found it amusing. No doubt the minutes of the meeting would float around people who are related to the board, and I would not be surprised Arata, who is not on the board, heard about it, after all he already knows about Mei's nickname given by the BoD.
Yuzu outed herself (and Mei) to Sayaka (in front of the cafe manager no less).
Yuzu and Mei outed themselves to the two middle school ex-homophobes friends.
I think Arata is a very important character in C+. He probably knew a lot of stuff but has little power to utilize the info. He probably know a lot of powerful people. It is entirely possible that he already suspects or knows that Yuzu and Mei is a couple based on what he heard (from his family, other powerful families, rumors). It is also possible that Yuzu outed herself to Arata off scene because Arata clearly indicated to Mei that he and Yuzu has struck up a friendship and have communicated multiple times. Finally, Mei outed herself to Arata in the exhibition hall. Arata looks surprised (twice). You can interpreted that it was at that moment that he realized that Mei and Yuzu is a couple. But I rather interpret that he already knows the relationship, hence he was able to ask Mei that question about how Mei and Yuzu managed to form a strong force together to achieve goals. I am sure he was not expecting the answer to be "because we are sisters". Rather he is surprised and confused that "love is that powerful".
Unlike others, Arata is now a wildcard. I hope sensei will give him more surprised role in the story, in bombshell fashion.
Instead of thinking that the sensei has running out of ideas for C+, I think it is the other way around. I think she has too many ideas but does not know how to put them in because right now the time line has less than half a year left before graduation. The biggest problem is Harumin's story of course.
It is interesting that Sensei has assigned a second year student as the successor to the student council president as opposed to Sayaka. Sensei drew the character, did not bother drawing the face and did not bother to give a name. I think she is absolutely determined to end C+ at graduation and we may have a bunch of loose strings. Sayaka and Miyabi represents continuation of the story.
As for as Shirapon is concerned, she may have been married by now.
The last panel of Oct 27 I find it very interesting. I have NEVER seen Mei smiles like that. No blushing, This is a smile of someone who is deeply deeply in love. Very significant if you think about it, including the whole panel. "Strength".

Unless you mean that the implicit subtitle of Citrus+ is “Mei Aihara: Devoted Businesswoman,” a “separation between personal and business” is exactly what the series has not actually shown—for Mei, “business” has been everything, everywhere, and their “personal” life together means almost nothing compared to Mei’s official role.
Recall the “birthday” fiasco—first it starts out with Yuzu feeling bad that Mei and her mom will be busy on her actual birthday, then on the day set aside for a “substitute” celebration Mei decides that she really needs to do paperwork for most of the day and Yuzu isn’t even allowed in their room.
No one would be complaining if there were an actual clear separation between times when Mei is focusing on her official duties and when she is devoted to her relationship with Yuzu, nor would anyone have a problem if the series actually reflected the yuri-heavy images on the covers and in the promo materials. But the discrepancy between the tone of the color images and the actual content of the stories comes very close to being false advertising.
Some Citrus fans have always been committed to rationalizing the writer’s sloppiness and lack of focus, but it’s rather grasping at straws when “OMG, Mei smiled at Yuzu!” (you know, the person she’s in love with and is going to marry) is seen as a major sign of actual face-to-face affection from Mei to Yuzu.

We're mostly in agreement there. I find their relationship now has matured beyond the physicality they shower earlier in the series. That physicality was largely dramatic and fueled by heightened, less than ideal circumstances. Now it seems they've relaxed into a certain calmer stage (and at least from Mei's POV, more confident stage) of their relationship and Mei's current workload obviously affects their current intimacy. Once that major project is settled they'll be fine (and are fine since we know where this goes).

Yeah that was a lovely final panel.
I think Arata is a very important character in C+.
He's definitely important since he ties together what Citrus+ has primarily wanted to focus on up to now (apparently to the distaste of some) and he seems to act as an observer of Mei and Yuzu's relationship. I don't think he understands that they're dating yet though. I guess we'll see.
I imagine his major action will be both related to their relationship (in a positive observational way) and to this project. I consider him like a child being "raised" by Mei and Yuzu. I expect we'll see what he "grows up to be," and that will be a reflection of Yuzu and Mei's relationship. This recent chapter was just another example of how they're positively affecting him and how that reflects on their love and personalities. That seems to be his main purpose.

She's very much in love, yeah. That seems to be part of her issues with some of Yuzu's actions and insecurities. From Mei's POV they are confidently and securely in love and essentially already married, with little reason to worry or fret about anything else. But that's their personalities anyway.

Exactly. Regardless of fans defending any kind of choice whatsoever (that's true for hardcore fans of any series in the world), it's pretty evident that the quality of the story has dropped significantly, most casual readers have left and not just because of a very irregular schedule, but mainly because of a lack of proper development of both characters and relationships. Saburo Uta really seems like she has no idea where the story is heading (despite knowing the end of it, marriage) and what to do with all the main cast.
Citrus+ "Synopsis: This is the story of Yuzu and Mei Dos Salary Women, 40, in which they show us their day -to -day . They get up at eight in the morning, they are going to work, and return at 6, dinner and sleep "! WTF! .

What maturity ? If the last physical contact we saw recently went to Yuzu "assault" Mei and immobilize her in bed in the purest style of the original citrus. Is that a more mature relationship? Maturity would have been for Mei to tell Yuzu his plans or at least reassure her. Maturity is that on Yuzu's birthday she behaved so cold Mei? . This is an institute girl manga, And it is normal for readers to see the most romance and not just a business course of how to carry an academy. .

Because that's intentional. Arata was introduced as a way to make Yuzu feel truly jealous, and she was just acting out because she didn't know how to deal with those feelings. I'd argue that if the underlying theme in the original story was Mei's personal growth spurred by Yuzu's presence in her life, citrus+ is all about moving Yuzu's character forward.
And at least from the Spanish-speaking side of the fandom, the breaks are the biggest issue people have with the series, weirdly, they don't seem to have an issue with Mahoako, Semalparous or Watayuri's hiatus despite having gone longer without new chapters by this point.

Well Citrus and Citrus+ has more popularity and demand than those series, so naturally a break would be felt more. The schedule is also more irregular--breaks aren't consistent. Those breaks are mostly what I see discussed across the board as well. I don't think the direction has been much of a tangible issue overall outside of some forum complaints (tangible meaning objective measures like sales, circulation, etc.). Here, it's mostly the same people posting, who knows what the silent masses have to say.

What do you think will happen with Arata moving forward? I'm also interested in when this series will end. I'm assuming once this project is over but I could see it going beyond that. Sabu seems to have the freedom from the publication to extend this (or delay this) as long as she wants.

That Yuzu felt a jealousy jealousy only shows her insecurity and that she has not matured, but the most important thing is the lack of communication with her partner." are no silent masses in Citrus+," you just have to enter several pages and yuri theme forums, Citrus+ is not in your prime. That does not mean that I have no sales, sells internationally Because it is citrus , but that does not mean that there are other Yuris much more commented in certain parts. The problem of Citrus+ is not its periodicity, it is its irregularity and lack of communication and The clear example we have this month where it was reported that there would be chapter and in the end it has not come out

Exactly, that is precisely the point of the scene.

That is what I said, yes, that the problem with citrus in the Spanish fandom is the constant breaks and not the quality of the writing. Also, I don't know where people got that there would be a new chapter this month (or next one) when it wasn't on YH list of contents.

You have a point and I assume is related with the weird fixation the fandom has for seeing Yuzu and Mei fucking. I mean sure, it would be nice but I don't think that is something that would add something meaningful to the story as a whole.

I think Arata is sort of placing Yuzu in Mei's place so I think that he will be inspired by Yuzu and Mei into taking matters with his own hands instead of just blindly following his parents, becoming an actor instead of being a mere spectator, so to speak.
The series is definitely meant to end in their wedding so I believe it will end when Sabu feels she doesn't have anything more to add to Yuzu and Mei's story. We don't have a concrete date for their wedding so it could happen years in the future or just a couple of months. If she decides to continue the series in some shape or form, I imagine it would be a spinoff focusing in Harumin and Matsuri but I think is more likely she will semi-retire. Is clear she is not the fastest artist around and she probably can live comfortably off citrus by now.

I don't care if they have sex or not, though I do think sex in a romance story can be a meaningful act due to it being a way to progress physical intimacy, even if it's off camera. For some it's an important part of a relationship.
Also Citrus tends to be very sterile in general so I don't blame people for wanting more.

Personally, it's exactly because it's not a sexual series that I never understood the expectation for sex. The desire to see it? Sure. But there seemed to be an expectation for something the series never was or tried to be. If this were "Asumi-chan," then yeah.

For some reason I don't expect us to reach the wedding in any real sense. A time jump, maybe but I can't see us actually showing the wedding in more detail.

It doesn't even have to be Asumi-Chan, in various milder series the main couple has sex, Girlfriends, Kase-San, Bloom Into You, and others. As I said it's fine if it's off camera even, and personally while I don't expect sex I'm glad when it's included in some way because a lot of media tends to be very sexless.
As for people's expectations, I think Citrus at least early on was commonly thought of as this spicy taboo romance that would go places a lot of more fluffy romance wouldn't. That it would be more along the lines of Flowerchild's works maybe. Also perfectly fine if you don't agree with that impression, it's just the impression I got back in the day and some of what I saw people expecting when the original series first started. I sometimes still see social media treating Citrus like the most unholy and taboo of all lesbian romance because of the "incest", which feels like a joke to me but somehow people are serious.
