The thing I love about this comic is how it manages to be both a romcom and a bona fide court intrigue story. Like, in this chapter, we got more General x Princess hijinx, but at the same time, the royal couple's plan to rope Ming into their court party by pairing her up with Tantai Lan has been further advanced. Also, Tantai Lan has declared her allegiance to the Emperor's party in front of the Dowager, while also using the royal couple's authority to put herself between Ming and the Dowager to protect the former from the latter's immediate retaliation.

gaaahh, I love this so much. Ming and Lan are so damn cute, and I love how Mother just got roped into a corner by the Emperor, she looked like she ate a whole ass lemon.

Completely played the old bat, and the princess is just melting.
