Well, I personally don't agree with calling others racist over liking characters that by themselves are not the problem, because what we're discussing in this site is the company's design decision of making all of them light skin when it's based on countries where people have a wide range of skin colours, and not what other people like. Unless that's happening off-site, then clearly those are people who are only interested in appearing "good" and nothing else, the watering down of what racism is helps nobody.

It is quite annoying how frequently this happens and it's not a matter of 'righteousness' as some want to make it about but more like "why does nobody take into consideration our reality and always have to make it where everyone is always either white or brown when often it's the two" or at least have a good reason for those people to be lighter/darker skinned only, such as by basing it off specific regions... Which they haven't and this is just another case of colourism.
I like Hachi Itou and OneeLoli in general so idc about it being loli, in fact I'm glad we're getting more on this site no matter the source. I don't mean to be rude but it would be nice if our complaints weren't being seen through twitterlens-of-thought because nobody here is being extreme.

^Well the conversation online is generally poisoned at this point. Maybe the translation could use some work, however what Moedred is talking about is that the majority of "the translation is wrong" people on social media have taken to making their personality the whole "anti-woke" nonsense as well. They hate any and all official translations because they think the translators are putting the woke agenda into the translation. Generally speaking it's yet another excuse for them to spew their hate and bigotry.

@PineconeJuice translation from Chinese or Japanese is hard as hell, because lots of words have many, many different meaning, it's way more complicated than English or Spanish.

It doesn't help that English version is translated from Japanese, further deviating from original script. Or at least that was the case with Honkai 3rd.

@PineconeJuice I can't speak for others but I don't think anyone is inherently racist for liking Genshin Impact characters that suffer from colorism, my problem with thechampionmike95 is them defending Mihoyo's actions on the subject.

is it really sensible to say "it's racist to want darker skin on characters based on regions where people have mostly dark skin"? like, yeah there's mixed people and some with lighter skin, but we can't just pretend there's no darker skinned people. not when the region is based on frickin' mexico before colonization
