hmm, I do wonder because Phis (the fairy) ends up saying "this body is your type and you're in love with "me" anyway right?" after which Sa-Hwa responds with "I love you too Barra" which make me think that Sa-Hwa and Barra had mostly the same feelings towards one another and that Sa-Hwa's wish was something along the lines of wanting to be with Barra in much the same way Barra's wish was to be with Sa-Hwa.

However what I think happened was that Phis essentially promised to grant Sa-Hwa's wish by going "get the fuel for the wish and I'll posses and become Barra for you" while also going over to Barra and going "get the fuel for the wish and you can be with Sa-Hwa"

Going along with this interpretation this story is pretty tragic all in all, but then again I don't think either Sa-Hwa or Barra were really the type to care for the small details anyway and "Barra" and Sa-Hwa get to be together so you can't say they didn't get what they wanted.

I agree. That's why I didn't like the ending much. Imagine if Sa-hwa and the real Barra were to get together instead, they'd be the best pest control experts ever hahaha
But this Sa-hwa + Barra/Phis combo might achieve more creative things with Phis' capacity for mind games.
Anyway, never trust a creature that suddenly offers you magical abilities!

Dark stuff. And barely a metaphor with the bugs, just a creepy kind of wish fulfillment of murder for love.

...An aside, but I'm still having trouble convincing myself that the Long Strip works as a format? It's cool when it's used stylistically (like when the blood of the vermin flows down to congeal in her outline) or as a shorthand to keep conversations going without a page break, but often in this manhua, two scenes continued on into each other on a page or dramatic beats were not separated for suspense. It just made me feel every time, why not stop and flip the page right here? It's digital, break up your pages where page breaks feel right.

I for one sure like this darker stuff, without it being overly dramatic or grotesque (to my standards at least) in comparison to other cheesier or sadder stories.
