Thanks to the anime having skipped so many chapters, I really don't know at what point I'm reading anymore. Also, kinda wish that Inugami would show...ANY kind of loyalty to Nekoyama. Yeah...I'd like that...

My brain went on pause for a long while trying to remember if dogs were a part of the zodiac. And here I am, born on the year of the dog.

There's a cat in the zodiac backstory, so I guess it's sort of the 13th animal? Okay I heard about that from Fruits Basket, but it checks out on Wikipedia, which is good enough for me.

Actually, there are several legends in China and Japan for why the cat wasn't included in the 12-animal zodiac, although Wikipedia also mentions that cats were likely not yet domesticated in the area when the zodiac came into use.

Rabbit is replaced by Cat in Vietnamese version of zodiac.
In my country that year is pretty often mentioned as "Rabbit/Cat year"

Ushi<-cow<-boobs large as milk cows. And cow/ox/bull/etc ranks 2nd in Japanese (=Chinese version, but differs with the last one) zodiac. Up to ch34 & nico9, there will be dog x cat, mouse x cow, monkey x bird(=rooster/hen/chicken/etc), tiger x dragon, horse x wild boar (which replaces the pig in modern Chinese version), and even autumn x winter. You might want to refer to Chinese wiki.

Nezu=mouse/rat, and a "rat math" means multiplying in powers of 2, thus 2->4->8->16->32->64->etc. This comes from the rats' ability of reproducting very rapidly.
