For all I know, Oshima Towa is an acquaintance of Oshima Tomo.. well I thought at first that they are married lol...
So they are just roommates who happens to have almost same pen name... hmmm....

Incidentally, although Ooshima Towa is not to be confused with Ooshima Tomo, I believe she is indeed to be confused with Oshima Towa [edit: have confirmed they are the same person]. I only happened to stumble across Tomo and Towa's relationship as well as Towa's name on a random series in my 'To Read' list a couple days ago; it's pretty neat to have a more recent idea of what Towa's worked on.

I think I stumbled upon Ooshima Towa's twitter one time, and mistook it as Ooshima Tomo's... Oh well

As for this series, if I'm not mistaken, I think I watched this anime in the past under the name "Girl's High" instead of "Highschool Girls" but um okay (practically the same anyway). It was a random comedy one and is also ecchi so yea.

You guys should definitely check out High School Girls by Oshima Towa. It is friggin' hilarious. Also there is a subtext (I guess? Idk. They are weird) couple in the series called the Takarazuka pair.

Oshima Tomo, of NicoMaki fame (or infamy), used to use the name (or is actually named?) Mitsuki Nikaidou. She also used the pen name Narusawa Meguru.

Nikaidou Mitsuki's credited with being Oshima Towa's "partner" (相方... read into that what you will) and helping her a lot with her manga - not exactly an "assistant" in the regular sense because she seemed to do a lot more than an assistant would. You can definitely see the art style similarity, particularly if you look at Tomo's earlier solo releases, probably because she's had to draw like Towa for a long time!

Sweet Pea is Tomo's circle, and Cocoa Break is Towa's circle. They used to do some releases together, to the extent that they share an artist category on Tora no Ana, but nowadays they make a distinction between the two. Possibly because Tomo apparently likes to draw a tonne of lesbian porn and Towa doesn't seem to. XD

They live together! You can see the photos of their cats on their Twitter. Tomo's kitty, Potechi, is the cutest. And I've read some blog articles in Japanese where people HAVE confirmed that they are two different people, having seen them both in person together.

Yeah the whole "only my partner" thing didnt stop me from shipping jin and her partner, it sure as hell wont stop me now

@kagakujinjya i would say a noncanon event, alternate universe type deal, but then you have to question why not just make the series yuri in the first place, i mean when it gets to the point where you make doujins of your own series then NOT going for it is bordering on redundant.

High School Girls, the main manga, is just a slice of life story about girls. It talks about various "girly" things like boys, school, teachers (hot or not), pubic hair, clothing, girl's periods, pregnancy, etc. If you're wondering is it /u/ worth, it isn't all that much. There are moments but it's more fansevy than anything. However, the sisters relationship is quite different and there is a lesbian side couple that pops up here and there.

Momoka is a delinquent, tsundere and near-evil, who harbors a hatred for Yuma and her friends, but later befriends Yuma's friends. She is often mistaken as a celebrity, and she uses that to manipulate people and flirt with boys. The cause of her poor relationship is because Yuma always protect Momoka and she felt useless, so she refused to go to the same school that her sister, causing their bad relationship. However, Momoka truly loves her sister and misses her when Yuma is away on a trip and vice versa. They occasionally blush when talking to each other after their relationship is getting better. The sisters, however, have never seen to have any feelings for any guy aside from some mild flirting. Now then, if you want to take that love as more than sisterly, that's up to you.

I personally liked the manga and anime :)
