Am I dumb, or is green not one of the primary colors

Either can be true. As someone more familiar with the modern use, especially in electronics, I had no problems recognizing it as one, although in older traditional versions there can be yellow instead. And these are apparently by no means the only existing sets of "primary colors", with no specific set being considered the canonical set.

Yeah it's a bit long the lines of RE:Zero but in my opinion this is not handled nearly as well. Also Subaru at one point in the first season is a pathetic asshole, but he also progresses past that. He manages to mature as a character as the series progresses, though I don't want to go into spoilers so I'll leave it there. I'd love for the Yandere in this to progress as a character, but as I've said already I have some serious doubts about that happening. Her character feels like an edgy power trip that reminds me of so many other Isekai where the Isekai'd character is awful for the sake of being awful.

Personally don't think they're even in the same ballpark as characters. There's not much to even compare and quite unfair to considering lengthwise, this is about as long as one light novel worth of content and re:zero season 1 was, what, nine volumes worth of content?

It depends on how you're coloring.

If you're using ink/pigments (crayons, paints, etc.) then the usual primary colors are the ones you're (probably) thinking of: Red, Yellow, and Blue. If you're being super picky about it, then Magenta, Yellow, and Cyan are "more" primary than those; you can get more colors out of CMY than RYB.

If you're using colored light, then the usual primary colors are Red, Green, and Blue. Light mixes differently than pigment, so, e.g., Red + Green = Yellow.

They're different because of how light works.

If you color a sheet of paper blue and shine a white light at it, then the blue pigment blocks a bunch of colors. Only blue light bounces back off of that paper paper to hit you in the eye. This is how we see, and we call the paper "blue".

The more colors you scribble on top of the blue, the more colors of white light is removed by the pigment. The more colors you add, the closer the paper gets to turning black.

As you add more colors, you get less light back. Red/yellow/blue or cyan/magenta/yellow are the primary colors for "subtractive" coloring.

Light is the opposite: the more colors you add, the closer the light gets to white. The more light you add, the more light you have. Red/green/blue are the primary colors for "additive" coloring.

... also, this chapter was a fun reveal.

Believe me I know this is much shorter and needs more time to build so it's not a fair comparison. I'm saying I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't think this is going to have as much character progression as Re:Zero. The comparison was because Subaru goes through a lot of suffering trying to save people, and at one point he was an unlikable asshole, but he progressed passed that. I don't think this Yandere will progress past her current pathetic and petty asshole behavior, but I again would love to be proven wrong. I think this series had a solid start...but it feels like they're going for pure Edge-Porn with how messy the writing currently is, and how much of a power trip the Yandere is on. I was also saying it reminds me less of Re:Zero and more of other Isekai that focus on a hyper edgy MC that runs around terrorizing people.

Edit: Also you didn't include the context of the person I was responding to, I was sharing my thoughts on someone else's comparison to Re:Zero.

From JGChaves:

So, everyone here is discussing Akari's Yandere Split-Personality, but did you notice that curious sentence that came out of her mouth? "Unlike that time in the train, I don't need to go back in time here".

Yeah, this girl is basically what Natsuki Subaru would be if he actually was OP. Except we are following Emilia's point-of-view.

That's the comment I was responding to.

That's the comment I was responding to.

Was just mostly responding to how you said this isn't handled nearly as well. By this time in re:zero, you get game save reset on death and the rest was just mc being cringe. Could just be me looking unfavorably at re:zero though. By the end of s1 I still found him not all that likeable.

Ah okay, yeah I didn't care much for Subaru at the end of S1 either but I think we have somewhat different perspectives and takes on Re:Zero. Part of what I'm saying is that even the two Isekai protags aside by this point in Re:Zero the general writing and pacing of the story felt better than this one. The world building, villains, other characters, and so fourth. The main thing that needed to improve for me with Re:Zero was Subaru, and he did. I trusted Re:Zero's author because I thought the other elements around him were interesting and enjoyable.

Unfortunately I currently don't have the same confidence in this writer's abilities as I did with Re:Zero. For me this manga has far too many things wrong with it at this point, and I think the current world building, villains, pacing, and so fourth are a complete mess. It's perfectly fine if we disagree here, maybe you see the potential of this series differently than I do. I genuinely hope it improves as we progress forward. I want more fun action Yuri series, especially fantasy ones.

I see the re:Zero comparisons but to me Akaris powers and her personality reminds me more of Homura.

This honestly depends on how well things progress from here. It's clear that Akari as she is right now has no yandere tendencies whatsoever, there are specific conditions for those future memories to re-emerge, and that buried yandere is very much intent to keep its existence hidden even from Akari herself. So there is a possibility that if they manage to avoid whatever tragedies gave rise to that part of Akari, it may disappear (or at least calm down enough through merging with the much happier rewound Akari) to be able to live together happily.

I like the way you think, but I'm worried that the author is just going to go for the edgier option of having the Yandere aspect only become even more prominent as the series progresses. I really hope you're right though, and maybe the pacing and world building will actually get smoother as the series progresses as well. Fingers crossed and I guess we'll see haha

My understanding is that it's not a split personality thing, but more like some version of her is time-traveling through different versions of her body and just sort of fucks shit up when she gets there.

By the way for people not feeling it, imo you guys should give the light novel a try because the manga really doesn't give a lot of this justice and explains a lot of things VERY WELL and better. A lot of their thoughts didn't get translated over very well in the manga form, and so far, from how I tried to sell this one to friends, 2 out of 2 people went from meh to find the LN really well-written, so take that how you will. (3 out of 3 people including me I guess)
