I don't understand why some people are against this, but you do you.
Like porn, prostitution is a complex subject, especially for women.
Is it empowering or demeaning? Your take.
I think in actually it was always supposed to be neither. It's another profession. People use resources they possess to make money and subsequently make a living. No different than something like an artist who was either born with or learned to paint. Some people do it because they're passionate about it, others use it as a source of earning.
But in the current political climate it is okay to view it as empowering because some of the people who find it demeaning or dirty (which isn't a problem in itself, they can choose not to partake in it if they don't like it), use that as a reason to discriminate and to justify discrimination of people who partake in sex work.
And it is easier to change these people's or their children's views that sex work doesn't have to be demeaning than it is to stop someone from discriminating against something they find dirty or 'less than' themselves.
And yes, it is a lot more complex than this, but this is how much I could fit in here without ranting on forever.
Personally, it's not for me. But if you want to be a sex worker, go ahead. If you need to be sex worker to pay the bills, do what you need to. That doesn't give me or anyone a reason to discriminate against you. Whatever it is, as long as you are of age, consent to it and don't hurt anyone else, I really don't care what you do and won't respect you any less.
Those manipulators, traffickers, coercers, etc. can go die off a cliff.
