Haru suddenly trying to kiss Riko actually surprised me, kinda came outta nowhere... Like no build up (IIRC) from her side - her feelings - it is just suddenly happening...
That's one of the things I like best about Haru's character, her apparent self-consciousness and the subdued/extremely low-key way she's been competing with Akane's overt fangirlism. I was really wondering how she'd act/react after Riko's hugging scene with Akane earlier.
In the context of Haru's buried/very subtle feelings for Riko, her forceful/genki everyday personality becomes an interesting weapon. Maybe you could say it's cliche to base expectations for a story based on its title, but I've basically been reading Haru this way from after the very first chapters.
This chapter was goddamned adorable with Haru's reaction after Riko woke up unexpectedly, but I'll say that I'm glad that the story hasn't reached the point of resolved/explicit romantic relationships just yet. Seeing all the ways Haru tries/even manages to keep a straight face while Akane is all over Riko is admittedly pretty entertaining. I've posted with an obvious bias towards Haru in this thread before, but I suppose part of it is because I've invested in what I see as this underdog situation of hers.
