I never really liked Mira as a storyteller. She was always a porny mangaka to me, one of many who draws pointless hentai, thoughtless sex, beautiful pictures without any sense. But Earth girls and Mira's early works, they prove me wrong. And it's not only genuinly interesting to read her stories, her talent in storytelling, in creating characters, in describing relationships is much bigger than interesting. It flows soooooo naturally, as if I myself is one of her characters and I make the decisions they make. I don't approve what they do, I don't like such lifestyle and I'm against polyamory, but honestly, in this story it feels so right... I would just do the same. I love this feeling when what I read perfectly synchronizes with my mind, such a blessing.

This. I agree. Her earlier work has NSFW scenes but the way it was portrayed seems less like a porno than these much older one. Her early works sex scenes feel more passionate and emotional to me and it seems like when they do have sex they're trying communicate their genuine feelings. I think she attempted the same with her later works, but it just doesn't hit me as much.

Wow, really? I completely disagree, this version of the earth girls series is pretty boring and tiring go me. Even with the gucci sex and stuff, I hate Katra, and I don't understand why anyone would like her in the first place. She's boring, air-headed, and dumb, yet everyone wants to be with her. And she's so oblivious and fine with everything that she cheats on everyone with everyone! The chief, her childhood friend, the traveller girl, and now Io. The whole story is just a big tug of war for Katra and I just don't find it interesting at all, unfortunately.

I'm always a proponent for yuri harems but I just can't with this one. Characters like Katra is the reason why I hate het harems in the first place. Everyone just throwing themselves at main character simply because they're a main character who's also "nice" to them on occasion..

And now she's sullying the one good character whose main character trait was how cool she was in keeping up with Kidaha's stupid antics.. This manga kinda ruined Earth Girls for me tbh..

There are people who exist that just have "something" about them. Be it general charisma, an aura of charm, whatever. I think Katra is one of those. She's "useless" but she's charming, unassuming, generally kind and caring, never judgmental, and also apparently very good at listening and just being there for someone when they need it. I can understand why others would be drawn to her, and the fact that she's also completely blind to her own situation, oblivious of the conflict she's been brewing, makes all the drama make sense to me, ESPECIALLY when she's been around Kidaha and polyamory for so long that hooking up with more than one person is a natural thing for her to do.

But I totally hate that Mira took my fav stoic character (Io) and made her a crying mess and then on top of that, she hooks up with Katra! It felt super misplaced. Mira you totally have to redeem yourself, next chapter have Kidaha secretly witness what happened, get jealous, and then make up and rekindle with Io.

But I totally hate that Mira took my fav stoic character (Io) and made her a crying mess and then on top of that, she hooks up with Katra! It felt super misplaced. Mira you totally have to redeem yourself, next chapter have Kidaha secretly witness what happened, get jealous, and then make up and rekindle with Io.

True, I agree it gives her more dimension as a character. I’m not so much bothered by her breaking down than I am by them segwaying that comfort into random sex lol. i was reading it like “no wait, Io’s Kidaha’s girl!”

Agree on this. I hate the new girl tbh. She kinda threw everything into a loop when created this huge drama. I feel especially sad my girl Io, she's my favorite throughout this series and to see her cry really make me irritate at Kidaha. I hope she'll appreciate Io more when she loses her.

Kidaha should leave with lo. I like how lo want now Kidaha for her own, because they the best characters in the Manga :)

Maybe I'm becoming too open-minded or I don't know but the sex between Katra and Io felt super natural and right to me. That's the point, nobody is nobody's girl, everyone is truly free and loves every member of that village equally. This little act of sex was just an act of friendship and Mira expressed it really well. The two had ideal chemistry, they were thankful to each other and happy that they talked, so sex was like...buying a delicious snack for your partner - a wish to show one's gratitude, to deepen the bound between them. And it was honest because both Katra and Io treat sex as nothing more than showing all sorts of love: for a friend, for a lover etc. Now if Juna hooks up with some random chick - that would feel unnatural.

And hey, Io remains Kidaha's most important woman, so why would she leave? Who said that Kidaha loves Katra the same way as Io? It's obvious the reason is Juna, if Katra paired up with Mifuri and continued to live happily with everyone, Kidaha would treat it the same she always does. But here came Juna - equally strong, arrogant child who rivals Kidaha in her leadership and wants to take one of the girls away, forever. Anyone would get their pride hurt and make a mess out of it, especially Kidaha. So I don't see any problems here.

Thanks for the link, now I don't gotta bother with reading it here anymore. I can't understand Japanese but it's pretty easy to tell what happened. Maybe it's because most of the yuri I've read hardly shows any explicit sex scene but it's just gotten grating, formulaic and overtly pornographic after a while.
