Plot Twist: Mei doesn't had a fiance and is worrying for something else.

Also this fiance stuff is so obsoleted,

Again this feeling of no progress is this somekind of a sick joke

i agree i feel like this is just trying to build more and more drama rather than build upon the relationship, if anything it's tearing it apart

You guys are getting it wrong. This is towards developing the rich girls' personal arcs rather than Yuzu and Mei's relationship (that is pretty developed by now anyways). As it was pointed out in /a/ out all the places

The deal with the fiances is likely going to turn out irrelevant. A big theme in the series, and big part of the MCs character, is going against imposed nonsensical rules and doing what you want.
Every single important girl in the story admires Yuzu for that, and secretly (some openly) want to be like her.
So, I think the deal with the fiances is likely a hurdle to be overcome by the girls, so that they can become masters of their own lives.

Oh yeah most probably. I mean the author wants to see them together in the end, so it's just an additional obstacle! And this isn't the first time she did that kind of stuff "outside" of the main relationship. The entire vol5 is of the same kind, except, well, being excluded from school is a bit less angsty than seeing her love's interest marrying somebody else.

I'm still loving it.

I think citrus is one of the few manga where you actually get 4000 commentaries

So we are wrong because someone on 4chan has a different theory with no basis in what we have seen? Alright.

If for no basis you mean the themes of the entire series, yeah.

It wouldn't be yuri otherwise.

You get that, but you also get rape being excused as "romance" and a shitton of exploitative tropes.

Seriously, fuck BL.

No, I mean that we have not once seen any of the rich girls wish to be like Yuzu. None of them even seem displeased by their arranged marriages. Mei had decided her own path volumes ago and agreed to inherit the school instead of following her father's path when given the choice by her grandfather.

These themes that everyone wants to live like Yuzu has no basis in the story that we have seen.

Not everyone, but at least Nene, Harumin and Mei : Nene is obvious, she's a fan and explains to Mei why, and how she'd like to be like her (and says others too). Harumin secretly wants to be like Yuzu, they're both gyarus except Yuzu is more open and confident about it. Mei said so to Yuzu after listening to Nene's praise, even if she backtracks right afterwards.

Soo, yeah I don't think it's the basis of the entire story, but it has some basis and is the foundation of the fifth volume which revolves around Harumin's acceptance of herself. And Yuzu's as well, it's a bit subtle, but Yuzu made her coming out in this volume in front of the entire school IIRC, I'm glad they didn't make a big deal about it. I only realised it in volume 6, the same time as Yuzu, I don't think it's flattering...

So perhaps there is more than just the fiancé to be explored in this volume as well. Even then, I still maintain that the stakes are different from the first arranged marriage. The first one was about getting Mei out of a prison, this one would be about how to deal with their relationship in the future. But it still early to come to a conclusion.

Vol. 5 Extra's Tiger prints reminds me of Lum no Love Song. Mei is so sexy! No Mei you're being too daring! You've really grown-up. * crying * T_T

This is not related but.... If you are playing Honkai Impact 3, there's a character there that looks like Mei and also her name is Mei with a long black hair, a little shy but not as cold as Mei (Citrus) well I don't know if it's just coincidence but I hope there's a Yuzu character look-a-like and name also in the future hahaha.

Yea, well, when you consider that guys are generally more "straight to the point", it makes a bit more sense....~_^

For those who still like the series (huehue, sorry), apparently the next issue will be in January or something, if I believe google translate and https://twitter.com/_saburouta/status/939736450899222528

If somebody with good knowledge in Japanese could confirm it, that would be great!

The chapter is on hiatus this month (Yuri Hime February issue released the 18th of December) because Saburouta asked to report the publication to next month, in the March issue of Yuri Hime that will be released the 18 th of January. We don't know why, some people could assume she has some health issues or maybe she wants time to adjust the plot because she's not satisfied with what she intended to draw at first.

Totally agree with the rape thing. I remember trying to explore this genre and and giving up in 30 mins cuz of rape rape and rape and Killing Stalking. (No offense to people who like yaoi and/or Killing Stalking. This is my personal opinion.)

Yaoi is literally just exploitative gay porn marketed to women. Unless you're fine with gross lesbian porn directed to men, you really shouldn't read it.

Actually, that raises a valid question. Why is there plenty of yuri material written by women for women, but literally all yaoi is catered to the female gaze, with literally no male writers involved period?

There's clearly demand among women to see guys in sexually humiliating situations, which most men understandably aren't interested in reading or drawing. The same demand seems not to be present from men (perhaps because they have enough of that sort of thing already in het porn) so that paradigm didn't catch on, and instead the yuri genre became shoujo-style romance, which appeals to women. The end result is that yaoi is super popular with women while yuri isn't all that popular among men.

So it's the same reason why at least 50% of hentai includes rape?

Because, if that is the justification, what the fuck. I'm 100% fine with porn, but fetishizing actual crimes is kinda revolting, no matter the gender.

It's stupid, but this is my observation:

Het hentai: Men's chance to see women raped and humiliated by men.
Yaoi: Women's chance to see men raped and humiliated by men.
Yuri: Odd one out, less popular but what exists is girly romance.

Maybe people expect the rape as romance trope when there's a guy involved, but not when the characters are women.

That raises a lot of unsettling implications regarding that particular subset of otaku and especially fujoshi culture as a whole.
