You're probably asking that because their name litteraly means "milk-flavored mochi".
I'm almost sure they aren't french. However, japanese people are fond of french culture, language and such, and that's why you often find in anime french-inspired characters (I have 3 different ones in mind featuring Gille de Rais lol) and why you can hear them say some french expression. This author's nickname is pretty surely an implied reference to our french culture ;)

On a side note, I love this author, they deserve to be published like regular yuri authors do.

If no one else does it by then, I'm planning on typesetting the rest of Mochi Au Lait's stuff on danbooru after I finish helping out at Yuri Project.

I have to agree, regular publishing is typically too infrequent for my liking and all too often the story gets warped to pull in more money.

Crowd sourcing seems to be starting up now (check out Morinaga's latest) and its an idea I've entertained for years. I'll be looking into how to contribute to that tomorrow. I might be a broke ass college student with a large, still growing debt but if sending $20 per month to a crowd sourced publisher gets me more good yuri I'll find a way to live on less.

I randomly clicked on a random yuri manga one day on the front page. I'm so lucky that it was hers/his. I love the style, and the story's are so cute
