If Meiko wins this manga is shit, you know what would be MUCH better writing overall and send a better message? Meiko loses her "slave" because she was supporting a relationship that was unstable, manipulative and with a warped power balance and Reo and Glasses-Chan get together in a nice supportive and healthy relationship causing Meiko to actually reflect on what a horrible person she has been, in the end Meiko never wins Reo back but maybe the two meet again in the future and are still at the very least friends when Meiko has bettered herself.

the possibility of that happening is close to zero, tbh.

I know but this story is hitting all the wrong points for me so far, the scenario posted above is what I consider the best way to fix that that I could come up with in a few seconds, someone who put more thought into it than me could probably think up a much better one.
Really though its just a bad story from a relatively mediocre author so I aint expecting much, man this really feels feels like the "dry season" of yuri, most of the really good ones are not being updated right now so I have to read what we get......at least it's not more citrus.

A better ending might be for Meiko to almost lose Reo or even temporarily lose her and then learn to be a better person to win her back, not because she deserves it, but because it has many of the same morals as your ending while also showing that people can grow and change and that they aren't inherently bad. That's something that's missing from a lot of stories.

Chapter 3: Not that it is to the same level, but didn't the glasses girl pretty much just do the same thing to Reo that Meiko usually does?

the girl was driven to slavery by her guilt. damn, i cant even imagine her guilt. meiko was in crutches when she went home, and when she's in her most fragile state, reo cant escort her home and to top it all, she didnt escort meiko because of a boy's confession, its her first so she was pretty happy, but she felt VERY GUILTY because meiko got raped thanks to her being alone and fragile(and fabulous), and reo could only drown in her sorrow because before it all happened meiko was an optimistic girl, but now she lost her virginity to some old dude, a rapist at that and...well, i can still understand meiko. and i agree, i rather see either of them snap and try to win the other back, winning meiko as in making her see the wrongs in her ways.

dude, it'll be so cool if there's an alternate reality manga where reo ends up with andou and the plot twist is that andou is overprotective, dependant and paranoid towards reo and their relationship became fucked up just like with meiko. lmao that would've been so cool

i wonder who reo ends up with, like i know meiko's the MC and all but glasses girl looks like shes gonna make reo see the real world

glasses girl is meiko's opposite. glasses girl also got molested but still happu and stuff, as in gay, but i still have hopes for meiko. she's not ENTIRELY hopeless. if im in reo's position, i would totally shower meiko with affection and stuff because i LOVE protecting.
we'll probs be a good match because i have overprotective issues
ANYWAY, i dont really fancy andou but....ehhh

did you read this story already or nah?

nah, i printed the manga and ate it. of course i already read it smh

She felt guilty too because she was overjoyed that the boy Meiko liked was into her instead. Deep down, she had been jealous of the attention Meiko had from the boys.

hm hm. thats why she was pretty happy when a boy confessed to her. it was her first...
and i think when meiko says that the guy is nice and etc, she's not implying that she likes the guy, in my opinion, its more like meiko is trying to make reo likes the guy. if you know what i mean? when i read it for the second time, its pretty obvious meiko is in love with reo but the meiko before the rape accident was a selfless girl(i think) and she probably figured out the guy's feelings and decided to give reo a little push but instead she sounded like she's the one interested.
probably. i think. this is just a what if

Ok, it's finally making sense to me why everyone hates this manga now. It seems that a lot of people are reading this with an information bias. The thing is- we're still really in the dark here about a lot of details. We don't know if Meiko is actually the abusive character she seems. All she's really said in terms in dialogue post-flashback is "this girl is my slave." It seems apparent that Reo feels guilty for what happened to Meiko, but for all we really know, Reo was the one who pushed Meiko into the whole slave thing, as some sort of atonement.

The situation could really be a lot more complex than it appears, because we haven't really been told anything explicitly. We've only caught glimpses of the situation. We barely know more about it than Takase. And I understand there are definitely a few other reasons for people having a distaste for this, but this one seems to be far and away the biggest. I've been somewhat enjoying this series so far because I've kept an open mind throughout it. I'm waiting to see if it develops into something deeper. And there is definitely many, many opportunities for this manga to achieve virtually nothing (other than nice looking characters), but I think it still has a fair chance at making something work. And I loved Cocytus so much that there's a part of me that believes that it will pull through. Although, I did find it quite ridiculous that people were calling this shit from chapter 1.

Don't we? Weak dialogue aside she's looking pretty damn abusive

I don't think there's much doubt that Reo went "Yo sorry for that i'll do anything you want to compensate", i guess even i would do that, but she's not happy about the way things developed, it's entirely on Meiko for ruining the friendship like that

Maybe, just maaaybe there's more dept to surface in this manga than it is apparent right now, but it's a little too late for me to care, this is already too funny and i just want this to go balls to the wall insane on the bloodbath

The key to reading this series is by keeping an open mind. And yeah, we didn't really know what really happened in the past after meiko got raped, so I'm sure the author have perfectly good reasons to make meiko super bitchy and manipulative. Reo has pretty much accepted being meiko's slave, which is unreal and hard to believe for some people but like i said, there must be a good reason. I JUST WANT MEIKO TO HAVE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER GODDAMMIT

i doubt that. tbh in my opinion, shit wont hit the fan. probably meiko would guilt trip reo, very, very, very much so by saying "you left me just like before. do you want the same thing to happen?" or something. i just cant see character's death, this is not happy sugar life but i wont rule out the possibility of andou, dead or mentally abused. still though, its too unlikely for meiko to be too rash on her decisions. she seems to be the cunning type. she probably would use her dogs(guys) to take care of andou. hopefully it wont be some type of sexual abuse, because it creeps me out. urgh.

Ooh, I step out for a bit and come back to two more chapters of this, very nice. I like how it's deepening the set up, with extra reasons for Reo's guilt and Meiko's obsession, rather than marching onward with the plot. It already feels a bit more efficent and controlled than Netsuzou Trap, which always struck me as bit woolly, lurching in a zig-zag rather than a straight line. Meiko's behaviour feels both crazier and more understandable than Hotaru's.

Obviously there's still time for this to go off the rails, for good or ill.

Takase's setting herself up for a lot of hurt. Intervening directly in somebody's relationship when you suspect abuse - especially by confronting the aggressor - rarely goes well. I can understand the urge to meddle and punish the wicked, but sometimes all you can do is offer somebody a safe haven if they want to make the leap. When a couple is threatened by an outside force, they can pull up the drawbridges and unite against you. Sometimes the abuse can even intensify, which I suppose is what might happen here, though I'm not getting full-yan vibes just yet.

It is horrible to watch, and there are few things that leave you feeling more powerless. If you're really close friends with someone, you have the knowledge to take more risks, but even then you have to navigate a minefield and likely recruit outside help. I'd also be extremely wary, to the point of prohibition, of interfering when you're romantically invested.

This manga's reminding me of Renaissance or Greek tragedy, where every misunderstanding and transgression is repaid a thousand times over. I guess if you think of it as inhabiting the same world as "The Duchess of Malfi" or "Oedipus Rex", its more lurid turns may be a little easier to swallow. Still, I'm surprised this isn't tagged for the confirmed rape. Am I missing something? Is it only used for direct portrayal of the incident? I'd suggest it myself using the form but I'm new so I don't want to make any presumptions.

Nothing in this chapter made me like Meiko any more, in fact all it made me do was make me hate her more, sure just take advantage of your long time friend who has felt guilty for years EVEN MORE.
Fuck this manga seriously, this is not OK just because they are both girls, make Meiko and see what this site would think of this story.

And yes I am aware I say the "make one a guy" thing a lot but only because it's true, it's called double standard and it's gross.

Okm I definitely had no hate for this story, like many in the earlier comments, but I certainly felt some of the same concerns. Seeing Reo's shit-eating smile at the end made me feel 1000% better. Even after the night with Meiko, she chooses to take control of her own life instead of letting it turn into another thingfor Meiko to control her with.

Speaking of which, Meiko got super terrible this chapter. When she said "Don't make me laugh!" I wanted to fucking stab her. I get it, she was hurt a long time ago, but the amount of blame she puts on Reo is ridiculous. And being this mean to Reo, someone who never intended any harm to Meiko ever, is excessively cruel. But I guess that's what everyone here's been talking about since chapter one. I didn't like her from the start, but this chapter really sank it it for me.

But seriously, that smile at the end made me feel so much better.

I like that Meiko is getting her power back. Yes I, and we didn't have to wait 30 chapters for it.

Well, it seems Reo is taking back some control over the relationship.

It's obvious Meiko loves Reo and her attempts at controlling her procede from a fear of abandonment.

I guess I'm easily swayed, not that I hated Meiko from the start but this last chapter definitely changed my opinion of her. The one thing this series could really use is a 'slow down' button. If there could be more time invested in diving into character's personalities and seeing how they changed from events to get to where they are, I feel like it'd be better received. Just a minor opinion though, I liked it from the get-go, and I'm still interested to see how it ends even if doesn't end up as in-depth as I would prefer it's still good enough in my eyes to be worth the time.
