I might just be overthinking this but when Ran said, "Hard to believe we were like them once," I can't help but wonder if she's talking about when she was at their age or when she had a boyfriend in her younger years. If it's the latter, I'm wondering why a flashback wasn't shown about it. But then again, we haven't even seen much of Ran's life except when her father died.

It's most definitely about when they were their age. It could've been the latter if that comment was after they saw what the girl wrote. Even then it would be a pretty big stretch (heh) to make it about Ran having a boyfriend, and if it was the same situation (cheating on her) there would have been a flashback to it.

Nah, this one's not a yuri chapter. It's just the two of them being goofballs, and joined at the hip like usual. The ending is cute independent of whether they're a couple or not.
