AI detected on page 2. Very strange. Likely created by Gemini.

I'm just kind of very surprised to see this on the color page of a major Japanese manga publication, it honestly doesn't look that bad.

what about that page looks like AI to you?

General vibe, overall image has the "nano banana look" - weak evidence but it adds up together in the vibe.

  • Background painting of trees and sky consistent with nano banana gens
  • Bench design, textures, lines, are like nano banana
  • Character shading near the skirt has nano-banana "semi-transparent" look
  • linework on characters has nano-banana look
  • blonde hair girl's right hand is odd (weak evidence, could be human bad hands)

AI artifacts, strong evidence and hard to explain in human work

  • AI artifacts on the ground in the bottom right corner
  • AI artifacts where the hair goes over the dark hair girl's right shoulder
  • Hair melts together with the uniform for the dark hair girl behind her back
  • Linework on the top board of the bench, the black line outline on top disappears halfway
  • Artifacts where eyebrows meet the hair on both characters
  • Hallucinated line behind the knee floating

I'm aware that AI detector tools do not always work, and I am also 100% confident that the image is AI without any information from tools. But for what it's worth pangram image also flags the image as ai.

Im curious why the cheating tag hasn't been added yet

I mean no actual cheating has happened yet. I'd still consider some of the stuff Tsukasa has done cheating especially sleeping half naked in the bed with her that's pretty borderline.

I guess lewd hand holding happened this chapter under the table? But they haven't gotten to any legit cheating yet so until it does I don't think it needs the tag yet.

Well, I don't agree on that part. Cheating can happen without getting physical, and doesn't necessarily involve sex. In this case, this is both emotional and physical (but without the sex, yet...).

Anyway, I'm here the trouble, and here it is :D

To be fair, a lot of these artifacts come from my half-assed removal of the text and boxes with Firefly.

Not to say the orginal has not been AI generated anyway by the magazine.

Most "AI checker" out there say the original is AI.

Here's the original.

I'm afraid we'll see a lot more of this kind of time/cost saving in the future.

The future sucks :\

Also I hope we can get AI gen tagging on here to help avoid it where we can.

The final illustration has probably been AI generated too. The underwear is way too detailed.

Here, only the illustrations seem to be concerned. The rest of the manga is drawn by a human at least.

I wonder how the mangaka feels seeing her style plagiarized by an AI. She probably doesn't have a say.

I hear that some Japanese platforms are already promoting some 100% AI generated manga. Most of it has negative reception, but given enough time, people will get numb to it and will buy when it's all that's available.

Korea already has a head start on it, with AI generated manhwa slop flooding mobile reading apps.

I read recently that the anime industry is worse. They have more and more productions to do, but lack the people, so they use AI to replace the rookies that used to do the tedious tasks. Meaning they stopped training rookies and will make the problem worse, until they rely only on AI in a race to the bottom.

Well on the other side of things after China was into AI it flooded their drama market completely, which people got burnt on eventually. So while I think the future sucks in many ways, I do personally believe that there will always be hope for improvements.

Oh this sucks, now they're starting to use AI in manga too :-[

We live in such a stupid timeline.

After seeing the original image, turns out that a lot of the stuff that bothered me about the image isn't in the original. So I'm going with "probably not AI" for this.

Or maybe it was outlined by the artist and coloured with AI? The thing about the semi transparent skirt does seem suspicious.

I still think that the position of black haired girl's arm around the blonde's body is weird and unnatural. It almost looks like the arm is going through her body. But this could simply be the artist's fault.

The arm isn't around the blond girl. It's the left arm of the blond girl.

The arm of the dark haired is at her side, resting on the bench.

Still, I ran the original pic in several "AI detector" and they all told me it's AI generated. Maybe the coloring or the backgrounds are AI generated, but not the characters.

Damn Tsukasa sure likes to cause problems on purpose. The prettiest girl in school and she kinda a spoiled brat. But despite that you're gonna keep simping, ain'tcha Hajime? Pathetic, hilarious, can't wait ^.^

Oops I forgot that some inconsistencies can come from redrawing. Even the original though has some definite ai signs.

I think this is highly likely, the characters are probably hand drawn but it's probably AI enhanced. I don't think any of the BW pages have AI

Now we've seen the face of true evil and that face is Tsukasa. Or at least, Tsukasa is admitting that she's messing with them. That's a change from giving some not-quite-plausible excuse that Hajime can use to delude herself into interacting with Tsukasa more.

I think Tsukasa is just that desperate for attention and validation? I'm not sure what else could be going on here. It reads like Tsukasa wants Sayama to chase her more, but also wants Hajime around as a backup. Tsukasa hasn't shown a strong attachment to either of them insomuch as Tsukasa wants a void filled. Maybe that was the reason for the breakup in the first place.

The hyperrealistic lingerie on the last page is defo AI generated. Been noticing that a lot lately. Hand drawn character faces/bodies in these sorts of uncanny, impossibly high-res clothes. Please Bully Me Miss Villianness did this recently with wedding dresses for their anniversary art of all things.

It seems like, as editors/publishers keep pushing for tighter and tighter deadlines, artists will be forced to offload more and more work to AI, till eventually it'll be 100% artificially generated, at which point the publishers will have proven they no longer need the artist and simply discard them in favor of generating the stories themselves.

I have hope that even if things were to get that bad that artists will find a way, and many artists are already finding ways to make what they love in spite of corporations screwing them over even outside of ai.

The quantity of available entertainment have been increasing greatly, long before AI was a thing but a good majority of it have been of questionable quality. And it's the same in every domain: games, movies, tv shows, anime, manga, web comics... But that doesn't bother me that much, because the quantity of really good media have been more or less constant. It just takes more time to find the good stuff as it's flooded with mediocre stuff. AI is just going to accelerate a processus that was already happening.

As I work in a creative industry, I'm still dreading the day I won't be necessary. But as a consumer, I'm not too worried. We will just need to curate what we are consuming much more, that's it.

And to stay on topic with this manga, and the way AI is being used, I think this is a good example on how to use it smartly. It doesn't take away anything from the artist, but it allow them to be more efficient, while keeping their style.

I kinda feel bad for Yumiri but at the same time I don't. She's putting a lot of pressure on Yuki. Like asking her if she's gonna like her in the future... The answer there should be how the hell would she know she doesn't know what the future holds. Yuimiri just wants Yuki too look at her and that's never gonna happen.

Also oh boy the first time we've actually seen Sayama say something and the time we've seen her since chapter one. Shame we don't get a chapter next month so it's gonna be a long wait.

I was thinking of reading the LN of this it's up to three volumes so far. But I heard by the third volume they're is basically some weird ass love pentagram with a bunch of people and that kinda put me off on it so I'll pass on that for now lol.

Idk where you heard that it was a love pentagram, but it's not. It's a love square. But also, you should not be reading the manga as a replacement for the novel. It's a pretty lack luster adaptation, both in the writing/pacing and the art. There's also no telling how far the manga will go before ending. The first volume has a decent fan translation. If you can understand Japanese, then that's even better. Hopefully the novels are either licensed in the future or someone else finishes translating the rest.
