I'm sorry but at this point is Kasane just a fucking idiot? How does she not know how Meguru actually feels at this point? Does she have to wear an actual sign around her neck that says "I'M IN LOVE WITH KASANE!"

I assumed this was gonna get fluffy with how the chapter was going and then when we got the "I want to renew my contract" part she was gonna tell her no because she doesn't want to be her sister she wants to be her lover... But looks like were getting to that part next chapter? Or it's just gonna get drawn out and she's gonna say it's the fever talking and act like this never happened.

She's definitely one of the most peculiar MCs I've seen in this genre. She's weirdly dense and unsympatetic, but not in a comedy way nor in a dramatic way either. I can't even tell if the author likes her or dislikes her, if she's a narrative motor or just there to be a foil.

Is this the Hijiki revival era?

She's also trying to be responsible and mindful of the age gap. And maybe some low self esteem at work too.

She has convinced herself that any love that Meguru shows her is just directed at a projection of her older sister. She sees herself as a literal substitute. She has accepted that her love is eternally unrequited, so she just acts in a way that she can be close to her and tries to find peace in the role that she's found herself in Meguru's life..

I can only see her as a predator. Funny how we can get such different view of the MC. I don't mind age gap that much when it involves two girls and one of them is a close to majority. But in this case, she just act like a predator, taking advantage of a girl that is hurt and uses it as a leverage for her own good, whether she is aware of it or not (but as the adult, she as a duty to be aware of it). I can only think of her as despicable honestly.

Meguru is close to age of majority, remember? And how is Kasane acting like a predator, when she keeps resisting her urges and Meguru's advances?

She is, but she is also a high schooler under the influence of an adult. Their dynamic is not good. Generally speaking, when there is that kind of age gap, the older female is pretty naive, and inexperienced, which makes the relationship more genuine and pure. In this instance, the MC is creepy and irresponsible.

You are right though, I've reread the serie, and actually, it is true that Kasane is not predatory. But she is extremely creepy and cringe imo. She acts like an otaku, always fantasizing weird stuff (just in this chapter, the first thing that comes to her mind is yuri and look at her face, she looks like a creepy old dude), acting like a fan with her oshi instead of considering Meguru as a real person, which makes me think she is not serious about Meguru and she is playing with her feelings. Not that I think she is doing that intentionally, but again, she is the adult, in front of a vulnerable teenager. She should be the responsible one.

All of that makes me think their relationship is unbalanced and unhealthy, even without the age gap. The age gap just makes it creepier.
