What. The. Fuck. Is. Going. On?!?!?!
So Erika is there? She didn't move away? Why would Akebi ask her if she's serious about the other girl?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

Mass lesbian outbreak, the obvious direction for the story to go in.

Yeah we're under the effect of a real loadbearing timeskip right now.

Maybe the author used intentional misdirection and it's not Erika but someone else whom Komichi is waiting for. And her line to Erika is just teasing her a little, she confirms they're dating right afterwards with her plan to play a breakup.

And, of course, it’s all Erika & Komichi’s fault! :-)

I don’t think that’s Erika, 1. I don’t think Erika ever actually joined the drama club, 2. The hair style seems actually very different to Erika’s and we wouldn’t know why she’d cut it, and 3. Komichi could still be talking about “breaking up” as a solution and this “possibly new” character could just be a supporter of her and Erika’s relationship.

?????????????????????????????

I don't know what Hiro is doing, but if they keep it up, then the series ends at Chapter 88.

This manga is beautiful yet you need a degree to understand all the subtle meanings the author conveys...

So we're in an undisclosed time skip. Instead of showing the performance, we see the aftermath, how it affected everyone. And this side character, who can't show a smile, is important somehow.

It's definitely Erika. Komichi says to her "if this is really our fault." This discussion wouldn't make sense if it weren't Erika anyway. I'm not a huge fan of continuing to layer the play around their relationship so much though. Feel a little uneasy about that but we'll see. Beautiful art as always, though. Also glad Erika said "No" to acting like they're broken up.

It might just be that it's English, but the line is ambiguous. "Maybe the only thing is to show people we broke up." This could mean the way I think most of us are interpreting it as "we'll act like we've broken up but we obviously haven't", but it could equally be read as, "we've already broken up but we're not public about it". I don't think it's the second, but I don't like the ambiguous wording here.

Erika is the only one who calls Komichi by her first name, it was a big thing, remember? And she did previously mention possibly cutting her hair.

I don't think the second would work considering the conversation, how shocked Komichi was that someone had confessed to Erika, how Erika rejected them and seemed playfully annoyed that Komichi wouldn't already know she'd reject someone else, then the way Erika says "No," at the end.

I don't see why she'd react that way if all Komichi meant was "let's be public with our breakup." Most importantly, Komichi follows up the breakup comment by saying how they're actors so they should act in a way that helps create order. If they'd actually broken up, they wouldn't need to act. I do agree that I'd rather we leave the drama and acting language altogether and be a bit more explicit at least when they're in private now. When they're alone, I'd rather they were more direct after what's happened recently.

If you’re referring to without honorifics I think so? Otherwise Chiarashi also calls Akebi Komichi. When did Erika mention getting a haircut? I remember her changing her hairstyle to more fit the prince role but I don’t remember mention of her getting an actual haircut.

It could be a general statement of “if this is really our(me and Erika’s) fault” rather than directly referencing the person she is talking to. Assuming said person is not Erika because again I don’t think Erika actually joined the club, maybe I’m remembering wrong cause I swear there was mention that it’s fine to do cross activities outside of your own club. It also seems kind of odd that Komichi would comment on how serious Erika is towards an unknown girl. It could also just be a progression of art style and how Hiro has drawn her expression but “Erika’s” eyes seem a lot sharper/decorated than usual.

That doesn't work because the context of this conversation is that the two people are deciding how to move forward to solve this issue together. There's also the other context clues I mentioned. Why would a random girl say "No, I'd hate that," when Komichi said they should act like they've broken up? Why would Komichi be including a random friend in the decision about her and Erika? They're making final decisions together, Komichi is not speaking as though she's asking for advice from a third party.

Also it's Erika who asks Komichi "What should we do." Komichi thinks (for comedy) that the question is about the confession Erika received but Erika responds that she had already obviously turned that down, so the question was referring to "what do we do to solve this problem of girls being gay all over the place because of us." There's no reason for them both to use "we," and "our fault" so much if it's a random friend. The way it's been structured is definitely odd though.

I think its lets pretend to break up but she didn't want to even pretend they had.

Yeah, that's what it seems like.

Well, being a bastrad is awful, but to be fair if the family doesn't want to do anything with her they are in all their right to do so.

To be fair, Akebi had already turned most of the girls gay for her, now they're gay for other girls as well.

Assuming this is a new character and another member of the drama club it could be a discussion/venting of the current state of affairs due to the club activities/play. We don’t know how much time has passed since the actual play. For instance I could 100% see this being a conversation with the someone such as the club president. This could be a character who joined the club due to Komichi and Erika’s performance and such their reaction to them breaking up could be that extreme. I’m more so playing devil’s advocate tbh like this is most likely Erika but there’s enough foundation for me to believe it isn’t as well, with the whole “waiting” situation as well as the character design. Also because the hairstyle change isn’t addressed and Erika is never mentioned by name.

But yeah the “what should we do” is pretty on the nose though I mainly saw that as a “people are asking us(the drama club members) out what should we do about that.”
