The pacing on this feels breakneck.

After reading this chapter, I can't help but think that this whole manga has been but an excuse to create an in-universe method for Nanoha and Fate to make a magical baby together in the future.

Vivio being their biological daughter already happened in at least one timeline might as well do it here too.

Ah yes, the classic Nanoha plan of "more dakka".

In fairness, usually the point of Starlight Breaker is to break something rather than perform magi-ecological disaster cleanup operations, so it's at least an unusual method for reaching a familiar solution~

The reflecion and detonation movies ARE NOT alvaible in Crunchyroll YET the gun blaze vengeance series will debut there so can anyone please give me a quick summary of this new timeline?

joined Jan 14, 2020

So far, those movies haven't really mattered. The one thing that sort of did: In Detonation, Nanoha tanked a shot and lost an eye and hand, which were promptly replaced by Eltrian nanotech. Also she was using "Formula", some Eltrian "I can't believe it's not magic". I think in the manga climax there's a bit of glow where Nanoha invokes Formula for a powerup.

This eye/hand injury probably replaces the one alluded to in StrikerS, where she got crippled and needed a ton of therapy just to walk again. Except, that injury was from being a dumbass and overworking herself, while this injury was a legit Heroic Sacrifice, that didn't involve much sacrifice in the end.

So far there's no indication that anything else from the movies will matter. But as the initial comic indicated, the girls are 13, vs. 19 in StrikerS. Hayate looks older because she's abusing "Adult Form" magic to get respected by clueless locals.

^ Yup, Nanoha's official bio for the manga confirms that the end of Detonation was this timeline's version of her accident. Also, the three Materials have been popping up here and there in Exceeds-related merch, but then again, those three have been all over the merch they've been releasing since Detonation, so it's not really guaranteed they'll show up.

Ahhhhhh, I thought we were wrapping up, but this is actually going to be a longer manga travelling between various worlds? Excellent.

(Page 7) "A "sea rock serpent type" is making landfall southeas of the branch office!"

Missing a T. (Also, you're awesome and your work is awesome.)

I will never forgive them for this change. Just completely throwing away such an important event that had a lasting impact both on Nanoha and her loved ones. One that came as a result of Nanoha's biggest character flaw, showing the consequence of the deep self-depeiciation she had since the very first season. And they replaced it with a generic heroic injury that had ZERO impact on her mentally and practically zero physically either. No long monthes in the hospital, no grueling physical therapy, no Fate failing her evaluation test TWICE because she's too preoccupied with worry. No, just a neat and quick fix with no scars or even visible prosthetics that people might find off-putting. A perfect little angel. Fuck you.

I hear you. As a long-time Nanoha fan, I had really loved the "you play grown-up games, you face grown-up consequences" direction that StrikerS (well, probably even A's) was exploring. And then Force (which I actually liked a lot) got canceled in favor of ViVid and the movies' "look at how cute these young girls are" direction instead, and I've lost almost all interest. ViVid Strike felt like a breath of fresh air but seems to have actually been the last gasp of the sub-series I'd liked so much. :( /rant

^^^ Please forgive me if I don't get this right, it's been years since I last watched StrikerS and I have a notoriously foggy memory, but if I'm not remembering this wrong, we don't actually get to see any of that, right? Like I think it was mainly just characters recounting the event for the most part (again, I could be misremembering) because I do remember being kinda disappointed with that.

I'm really into depictions of serious injuries in magical girl shows and how it affects the characters (and conversely, I don't like when chronic or life-threatening injuries are just handwaved as not a big deal, like the new version of Nanoha's accident), and while I do recognize and appreciate Nanoha's accident had actual narrative weight in regards to the particular arc it played a part in, I do recall feeling bummed out that 1: we didn't actually get to experience what she went through first hand, we just hear about it in kind of like a "noodle incident" fashion, and 2: it wasn't even brought up in relation to Nanoha herself and her character's narrative, but in relation to Teana as more of like a cautionary tale (though that is owed largely to the fact that Nanoha is not actually the protagonist for most of StrikerS and so we don't get a lot of stuff from her perspective).

So all in all, while I do agree the new version of events is pathetically insignificant, I'm not too bothered by the change since the original version didn't hit as hard for me to begin with.

Again, I'm not the best at remembering things, so I could just be getting my wires crossed

StrikerS Nanoha injury: episode 9. We don't see her get stabbed, but we see her unconscious and bloody, then in the hospital practically a mummy of bandages, on life support. Then in a wheelchair and doing PT. (I just checked.)

There's associated manga; that might show her getting stabbed by a Gadget drone, I forget. It still wouldn't be a long action sequence, I'm pretty sure.

Honestly I always thought StrikerS maybe overplayed it; Nanoha doesn't have that much time where she can lose a year, especially a year of school.

It doesn't really show what happened IIRC, just a brief flashback to it from Vita as she smashes some Gadgets.

The staff really timed well the released of the manga chapters. This weeked we finally got to watch the first episode of the new season, full of new terms we don't know yet, and right after we get a manga chapter explaining everything,
