I always enjoy this kind of story. I know Meiko is manipulative and really laying on the emotional abuse, but sometimes I get bored of how sugary-sweet and innocent so many characters are in yuri works.

Sometimes I just want to root for a 'bad girl' without them being clearly overshadowed by the couple that's 'meant' to win out in the end.

Same here, I sometimes get that itch, and this manga is scratching it. Reo's punishing sense of obligation is very sympathetic, while Meiko's damaged, selfish and intriguing. She's possibly stewing with betrayal and resentment... or deeply insecure, convinced that guilt is the only way she can ensure Reo's attention. Chances are, the truth lies in between, but either way, I'm eager to see how Meiko's character develops.

I've also got a bit of a soft spot for Kodama Naoko as 'Encounter Effect' is one of my favourite one-shots.

Man what's with this author and their emotionally manipulative relationships? It's fucking terrible...

That said I want more of it.

Kodama Naoko did my favorite fluffy manga, Renai Manga, and a fairly fluffy one, Cocytus. She also did the very dark and cynical NTR one, and this one. This one, I think, is very old. Erica Friedman at Okazu didn't like the twisted guilt and morality of this one at all, and when I saw the summary I was like, this is just like that old series by her Fujiyuu Sekai that wasn't translated. Then I went "doh!" The point is Kodama Naoko is not just tragic psychodrama. I agree it's preposterous the victim gets to victimize the other girl, but maybe she's just naturally a guilt-ridden sucker. By the way, if you think Kodama created a "lame world" here, take heart, since that's what 不自由的世界 means.

On Edit: oh yeah I forgot how great Encounter Effect was. so there!

potential for love triangle on this one? I kind of appreciate these sort of "darker" or more drama filled yuri series every now and then, since I get tired of the same school-girl happy go lucky stuff after a while and need a break.

thanks to Kodama Naoko, i think i finally understand why my mom enjoys telenovelas so much.

This is what I'd expect from this author. They rarely do something light and happy... and I gotta admit, cliches and bad-spirited characters aside, I did enjoy this. Will be looking forward to more.

Its like I read a manga like this before but I forgot the title or it is a book or something

Kodama sure likes dark and unhealthy relationships, not that I mind. Theose kinds of relationships either crash and burn for the worse or the best, or somehow "improve". I'd like to see how this progresses

I really liked this author's story about the manga writing. Netsuzou trap was ok but this one... Kind of makes me feel like the main characters brains were replaced with a seven year old child and something from the mistress story.
