Eh...the courtship was the whole point of the original citrus.
Partially true, and the point of this manga is the development in a relationship of an engaged couple. And there's nothing of it.
Mei was repressing her emotions through all of citrus, citrus+ is where she's making an effort to make up to Yuzu for everything she made it go through. And strangers? Mei is actually trusting Yuzu with her plans for the academy, something the old Mei would've never done.
I didn't wanna properly analyze that before, but saying that Mei repressed her emotions through Citrus is actually not the truth. She shows a lot of emotions in the early volumes, it's jut that Saburo downgraded her to a complete emotionless robot since, so the fact that she's showing something now (which is also not really the first time, it's just an endless loop of the same childish situations) it's not a real development.
And she's trusting Yuzu with her plans for the academy? Wow, that's something that... nobody really cares about. See, this is exactly the issue of C+, while you might say this is a tiny action that shows a change in the relationship, to me this is actually like putting a cherry on the side of a mud cake. We're still not adressing the main problems here, so yes the fact that they're about to get married and still don't even know how to communicate with each other is like saying they are strangers.

Again, I'm baffled at all the comments saying that Mei shows no emotions when this chapter is all about showing how out of her depth she is with her own emotions due to having been repressed for so long.
It was nice to see that Grampa Aihara has chilled out and is on good terms with the girls. Ume continues to be a treasure, and Mei asking Yuzu for a letter was incredibly sweet.
Yeah, great development having Mei show us that she's able to have emotions... after how long is it? 17 volumes? And god knows how long they've been together? And for a couple that's bout to get married?
I get it that some fans might still enjoy these two touching hands once in a while, blushing when the other say something vaguely nice and so on, but we're not talking about a couple that just asked each other out for the first time, we're talking about two engaged girls. And yet they still behave like almost strangers, just casually giving a compliment to each other once every blue moon while they're busy with school mergers, doing homeworks or getting mixed up in other people's unnecessary dramas. There's anything but the proper development of a relationship here and that's not exactly the story as advertised
