I'm just waiting for them to do it. All the rest is filler right now.
i can't believe asuka chose to do homework instead of her mom
It's because homework can't run away from her
She trying to graduate and be someone for Ayako. She gonna take care of her momma, like all daughters do.
(~ ̄³ ̄)~
I can see it now. An older Asuka coming home from work, kissing Ayako. Being domestic and open behind their closed doors. (Their safe haven)
Nobody talked about this (admittedly small) detail: when Asuka is recalling her makeout session with Ayako, she thinks it was awesome, fantastic, amazeballs, so incredibly hot she felt like she was going to melt in Ayako's arms... and then she remembers Miyuki and thinks that, next to Ayako's kisses, Miyuki's kisses were just meh. And a little Miyuki face appears in a corner of the panel and says: "How rude!" I found it hilarious. ^_^
On a lighter note Asuka's "mom-sense" should be going crazy at this point.
Asuka at her desk now:

Asuka after running to Akira's place:

On the real, I think the last panel... Ayako will realize what Asuka realised in this same chapter. That kissing someone you love is completely different then just doing "things" with someone.

Author said she might add those more often. She had fun with it!
I wish Ayako knew how Asuka felt. That Ayako really is the only one for her. And I also hope Ayako realizes that kissing Asuka makes her feel things that she doesn't feel with Akira.
Wait a minute. I just understood.
If Taiyaki is doing this on purpose, she's an amazing storyteller.
Akira is kissing Ayako the same way Miyuki kissed Asuka on the couch when she was younger. (The art is even the same) That was the moment Asuka realized her true feelings for Ayako. If Ayako realizes her feelings with this kiss between Akira and her, it would be portrayed in the same way. THIS IS ART YA'LL.
How is this so romantic wtf.

That would be a great connection there. But would that be too simple for Taiyaki? It'll be too straight forward and seems like a potential ending to the manga, which i hope would never end.
I think Ayako would just brush Akira's kiss off as a joke. (if she did kiss? i know it looks like they totally connected there but who knows) Ayako always brushes Akira's feelings to the side as she never notices, so we might go back to square one...

She might realize that she has feelings as a result of Akira's actions but still try to suppress them because of her position as Asuka's mother. Just because the love is mutual doesn't mean that Ayako is going to be perfectly okay with going straight into full incest. She still needs to work through her issues.
Jeeze Akira, way to screw with your own feelings just to make a point... sure, I'm glad she's gone and done it, but that's just a needlessly painful way to do it.
I read the first chapter a few years ago when it came out and ran away in disgust. Now I'm here, after binging the entire series, re-reading it twice, reading all 100 pages of comments (yes, even those saying Ayako had drugged Asuka and molested her), supporting the author on Pixiv and buying all the issues on Amazon. God damn… Taiyaki is a goddess. I had never seen such a beautifully built trainwreck of a relationship.
Okay, let's start with the obvious. Ayako needs therapy ASAP. It's obvious that she can function as a productive member of the working class, but in the affective realm she has the maturity of a child. I believe the reason is that Ayako may be autistic and had a horrible childhood. Maybe I'm projecting here, I'm autistic myself and also a survivor of child abuse from 6 to 13 years of age. The first few pages of Chapter 15 describe my own experience and inability to understand my own emotions so well that it's uncanny.
However, I don't think the author will take it that way. Therapy tends to be an unsatisfying way to resolve an inner conflict in fiction.
So, here are my thoughts:
About the strange predisposition Atsushi talked about in Chapter 16, I think it might be 'indifference' on a massive scale. Ayako was known to be uninterested in other people and to be unable to smile. Try talking to someone that's physically there, but doesn't smile, just stares at you or gazes somewhere off. It's unnerving. I can see how it would be difficult for a person who's basically expressionless to live day to day. By pairing with someone as confident as Atsushi, it could somewhat alleviate some of the issues. The reason why Ayako married Atsushi was to have a family, which is something she desperately wanted. (This is purely speculation, of course.)
Through Akira's kiss, Ayako will realize she feels absolutely nothing of the rush of feelings and arousal she feels with Asuka, which will confirm that she is in fact head over heels for her daughter. It seems strange that someone her age would've missed the signs being thrown at her in every direction, but I think this is the first time Ayako has been in love. Some readers have theorized she's a closeted lesbian. I don't think that's the case. I think she's demisexual, someone who only feels sexual attraction after forming a deep emotional connection. And let's remember that Ayako doesn't seem to have much of a history forming deep emotional connections… The only confirmed case is, in fact, her daughter.
I hope they don't go all the way immediately after this revelation. I want them to be together, but for the right reasons. I suspect Ayako holds an immense amount of self-loathing and guilt. Notice that she blamed herself for Asuka falling in love with her, and before running off to Akira's she remembered scenes of the blissful times she spent with Asuka only to then think "In the end, for someone like me, wanting to be a family with someone was just a long dream." The poor woman thinks that she doesn't deserve a family… That's heartbreaking.
This manga is the best thing that's ongoing right now, change my mind
I completely agree.
The bestest.

So cute and thrilling and unbelievably romantic. <3 <3 <3 Now that Ayame 14 is completely translated, this manga stands alone at the top of my list of favorite ongoing series.

I loved this too.
Maybe Ayko will get a little Akira when she realizes Asukas kisses are better.

I'm making a habit of asking this question: what changed your mind about reading it again?

I can see that happening, yes. But, I also think it goes beyond Ayako realizing her true feelings. I'm sure there are more things to develop. Like relationship status, will Asukas tell the when world? Lol and the most intense one.... Will Ayako wait till Asukas is 18? Or will they not be able to stop their growing feelings of Romance? I feel like Ayako is a realist. And might just realize "okay yeah, I like Asuka." But more emotions and expressioms will bloom from this. Their is so much I want to see after her realization ya know? Like Asukas never opened up about what she did what miyuki, and I know Ayako is insecure about it. As a development and hopefully official couple, they can talk about this? Maybe Asuka can express how it wasn't Ayako she was with, so she didn't go further. Things like that!!! Ugh. (Sorry for the long documentary) lol

This is everything. And the reason. The manga is so so good. Took the words out of my emotions.
