They're both too fumbly to pull that.
And they seem to have walked into a cafe, so my guess is impromptu date.

They're at Ayumu's, so more like bath shenanigans.

Remember, idiot couple at its finest. They will shower, get naked, walk around in bathrobes, one of them will be incredibly embarrassed and the other one will be incredibly oblivious (and/or viceversa) (yes, I wrote what I wrote), and there will be nothing of it.

Ayumu is so adorable

I can't put my finger on it, but there's something "authentic" about just how down bad Ayumu is. Like the way it clouds her judgment and spurs her to action is interesting. Combined with the nerdy idiosyncrasies, it's pretty compelling characterization to me

I think they glossed over the whole mom dying thing a bit too quickly… you’d think she’d at least say “sorry for your loss or something” but she instead just complains about having to run because of her. Maybe they talked about it before although I don’t remember if they did already.

that's what i'm saying! like what!!

the sign on the outside says "Ootsuki" which is Ayumu's given name!

there's still potential here for a stay-over...

It's her family name. Ayumu is her given or personal name. "First name" in the west, but not first in Japanese order.

I've only read the 1st chapter so far but I think Ayumu might be the idiot here....

This is all really nice, I'm enjoying the recent chapters a lot. I'm still somewhat fearing that the author will manage to squander this like in their previous work, but I sure hope not :P

That was really nice! Looks like Ayumu's earnestness is finally starting to work its way into Hayami's sports-for-brains skull. It's hard not to like that silly nerd after all; she's just so darn honest and genuine.

well, a cat home date with side dose of "my-parents-aren't-home" due to rain is fine, too

After a nice full re-read. Hayami's reaction to hugging Ayumu is a great contrast to her lack of reaction hugging Asuka. Our lil astronomy nerd is making progress!

They're so cute! I really love how Ayumu inspires Hina to do better without even meaning to. Like, there's the ending here obviously, but there's also stuff like how Ayumu's honesty gave her the push to clear things up with Asuka in Chapter 4 or her wondering when the last time she was passionate about something at the beginning of Chapter 3.

In fact, the latter combined with her sentiment about "what's the point in trying" here makes me wonder if Hina saying "why worry about the future if a meteor could come and end everything" in Chapter 6 was just a joke-y cover to a general feeling of apathy she has beneath her cheerful exterior. Really, when I look at it all together it feels like Hina might run only because her mother did and it lets her avoid her thoughts, rather than passion for or ambitions with the sport itself. But now her time with Ayumu is slowly starting to change that, and give her something she is actually passionate about (just compare her face when Ayumu hugged her vs when Asuka did). Maybe part of this is just me looking a bit too far into things, but either way I think it's really sweet to see

lol this chapter was a little bit spicier than I expected from this series. Also, there definitely was a difference when she hugged Ayumu and Asuka. Keep going for it Ayumu!

All those wordless closeups of Hayami's reactions mark her doom just as much as finally (finally!) blushing does. I'm really happy with the pacing of the story so far, it scratches my slow-burn itch but also doesn't feel painfully slow.

Also I just noticed at the end of 9.1 her parents say they're "on a date *too*". Glad to see Ayumu's parents are supportive!

Ok, but she didn't explain why she got into space, I was curious too.

Yeah to all of this. Makes me wonder if this otherwise light and fluffy work will delve deeper into what might be a rather heavy existential nihilism on Hina's part that likely started after her mother's death. That might provide a good moment for Asuka to concede defeat too, that she never saw past her best friend's front from right beside her while the weird astronomy girl managed to not only pierce the facade but help pull her out of it by being so stubbornly forward.

Oh that's so true actually! I hadn't considered how this would make a nice foil to Asuka and her only seeing Hina as merely being completely sports-brained rather than trying to dig any deeper. Which now that I think about it, this all would also be a really nice parallel to why Ayumu fell in love with Hina. Just like Hina was the first to see Ayumu for who she is instead of laughing her off, Ayumu was probably the first to want to see Hina for who she really is instead of only seeing her surface level personality.
