Well I love Afro's work in general, especially Yuru Camp, so I don't want to give them so little credit here even if I don't love Mono as much as Yuru Camp.
Also oh? That's an interesting statement since I think the first maybe 6 episodes of WEP were solid and interesting, and despite the writing falling off a cliff in every regard at least the animation was still good throughout the whole show from what I remember. I watched 3 episodes of Maebashi Witches and dropped it because I had some problems with the writing, and the visuals + animation were maybe serviceable at best in my opinion, so now I'm curious of Maebashi Witches got very good after I dropped it. WEP but done right sounds like a minimum 9/10, that's a high bar to reach.
Part of the whole tragedy of WEP for me is that the series had potential to raise awareness around teen suicide, bullying, as well as LGBT topics, and it sadly crashed and burned on all fronts by the end due to how nonsense the story became. I think for me WEP but done right would have to really hit a home run with these topics.
