This one is being hella overlooked, I think the fact that Hiiragi doesn't consider herself as a real person is an interesting concept but it need to be explained further, but what I really like about this one is how they deal with the classic over-the-top super extra theater kid character in a realistic way, basically saying they're cringe, so, dealing with all the "unrealisticness" in manga and I guess the chunibiyo síndrome, exploring it and trying to make the one true realistic acting manga, like turning the genre on its own head. Also I really liked the idea for the little play, it was so cool, and the fact that she got to hear what all the other students think of her was so tough but also really interesting and useful for her own growth, so yeah. Haven't read chapter 7 yet but I'm amazed by how little people is reading this, it actually is good

gotta say it's not surprising, I think it had a slow start and not even here in dynasty it is popular. It's a shame but oh well

Really hoping this one sells enough to avoid the axe. Very underrated imo, I'm really enjoying it

There may be hope for the series.

English vol sales do basically nothing against the axe. Not that it matters, cause this'll be cancelled before the english release is even out.

To me it looks like a sign that a series has been axed. When licensing niche, unproven series, publishers generally prefer short series because it means less commitment from them. Seven Seas picked up a bunch of axe fodders, including the 2 volumes long Scarlet and the practically abandoned Chasing Spica. In any case, Kodansha picking this up should has no immediate effect on the manga's situation, since it would take some time for they to release it in English.

With the way things are going, the whole troupe will know how Sakura feels about Tsubame, so maybe including Tsubame in the troupe is a good idea, increases the chance she will understand too (flawless logic, please don't dispute)

... also, with the way things are going, I'll end up with a collection of axed yuri manga on my bookshelf. Bought a copy, but I'm not feeling it, it barely got to second page of comments here despite 7 banger chapters.

I'm surprisingly invested in this story, so I really hope it doesn't get the axe. But ah well...

Very interesting as usual. The chapter notably avoided showing what Sakura thinks about Tsubame joining the troupe's play, and I'm honestly really curious about it because it feels like it could go either way.

I just got into this one! I really like it so far.
Does anyone know if it got axed or if there’s still a chance to save it??

That was a bit of a low-key chapter, but I guess it must set the stage (hehe) for something else next :P Also, we had a minor appearance of my personal favourite, aka "what is this feeling" (even if it wasn't the focus).

Not sure if that whole thing was supposed to imply that the "bystander" is Tsubame's actual "inner self" or not, I guess we'll see.

The play and Tsubame's part was rendered beautifully but there is an odd melancholy to it. It's nice to see this series again.

Is Mai-san effectively saying "you better write more plays or I'll steal your girlfriend into my troupe"? :P

Not sure if that whole thing was supposed to imply that the "bystander" is Tsubame's actual "inner self" or not, I guess we'll see.

I understood that part as, Tsubame was a lot more expressive than the director expected from her, showing her "inner self", but she herself wants to completely erase her own person and become the character. I might be misremembering some things a bit, but we have been shown that Tsubame has this weird idea about not being "real" and she basically puts on a persona during her daily life as well. Thus, telling her that she herself shines through during her performance, wouldn't be what Tsubame wants to hear.

I find your reading interesting as well, though, and I believe it would still fit with the whole "real" theme. Is Tsubame a "real" person, or just a bystander watching others' lives? If she's striving to become the first —which I am not sure is the case— she wouldn't want to to be told that the role of the bystander fits her.

It's sad that this one probably won't get the time to develop as the author wanted it to. It has some interesting themes that I would have liked to see fully explored.

Lmao at Mai-san's "old man yells at cloud" complaints about kids and their attention span, I'm always a bit sceptical about these claims :P I remember lots of inattentive kids in class even before mobile phones were widespread, I doubt it was any easier to get them to enjoy a play back then:P

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

More seriously, it'd honestly be rad if Akutsu and Hiiragi ended up in a queerplatonic relationship while also having more explicitly romantic relationships with Koishi and Kuze respectively. Stories where the friendship between the main characters plays a greater role than their (still important) external romantic relationships aren't uncommon, but I don't think I've ever seen it within a queer context before.
Admittedly, the reasoning behind my feelings is partially because the way Akutsu reacts to seeing another side of Hiiragi doesn't quite feel like it's rooted in any sort of romantic feelings (alongside how she seems more surprised by the kiss in this chapter than jealous, and how Kuze goes "hmm maybe i'm gay maybe i'm not gay ;) "), and partially because I want a non-harem yuri series where the final pairing isn't just the main character with the person who shows up in the first chapter.

Finally a chapter where Tsubame doesn't seem to vaguely hint at falling into despair... also, end of volume 2, and it doesn't seem like it was any sort of definitive ending, so hopefully the manga continues... ?
