Edit: Ok so after checking out the author's other works in this anthology I realized I've actually read their work before and have liked everything I've seen so far, with how they handle relationships between adult young women that border on the parasocial, which seems to be a running theme in the anthology.

Yeah, it's definitely a little off that Nigaki is so into Ruri despite really not knowing anything about her other than her literal stage play persona. I don't think the manga is going to look at that critically, but it's a recipe for disaster; Nagaki is seeing her own version of Ruri, and she doesn't seem too interested in learning about the girl behind those performances.

(And that's not mentioning the next-level white knighting that is attempting to fix someone because you dreamt they were sad)

I'd be surprised if it didn't look at it critically, it's already commenting on the mismatch between her perception and the real multifaceted person in front of her a bit - I'm really interested in where this is going!

Mayuko seems to enjoy learning about the different sides of Ruri, so I think the relationship quickly left the parasocial stage. Since this seems to be a coming-of-age tale, the real question is what Mayuko can learn about herself through theater and this new crush

Like every relationship it starts from just some sort of interest, but it would be a problem if she wasn't genuinely into theater after learning about behind the scenes. Things like parasocial feelings are discouraged because of the inherent danger. In fiction you can just make characters that can work with it loool

I doubt that joining a theater in hopes of getting laid is at all unusual.

This feels like it could be either really romantic or a disaster

Nice first chapter, looking forward to more. The theater theme is reminding me of My Unique Day, which is nice.
