^^^^ you gotta adjust your yuri goggles homie. It’s yuri subtext. The same goes for bocchi, lycoris recoil and witch from mercury. If we follow the argument being made in the above comment, then these shows wouldn’t be yuri either and they’re all just “genuine friends.” Also, I agree the anime attempts to set up a potential het relationship, but it’s largely bait as this is not a romance series if you read the light novels, which is complete, jusetsu doesn’t get with the emperor or anyone else Anyway, here’s my reasoning for why raven of the inner palace is yuri subtext: jusetsu’s most meaningful relationship is with her lady in waiting. With the emperor, she’s simply in tsun tsun mode 24/7. But through jusetsu and jiu jiu’s dynamic and interactions, we see how much jusetsu cares about her and vice versa. The raven consort is meant to live a life of isolation, yet jiu jiu is the first one she willingly allows into her domain (and heart). There’s an entire episode spent on jusetsu worrying about what kind of gift to give jiu jiu that would make her happy. When jiu jiu is possessed by a spirit, jusetsu unleashes her power and goes on a rampage to save her. The cherry on top is the intimate moments they share hugging and comforting each other I said jusetsu has a harem because another consort grows affectionate of jusetsu, frequently visits her and wants to be her “onee sama.” If all that ain’t gay enough, ANOTHER consort blushes like crazy the first time she meets jusetsu, calls jusetsu beautiful and even sends her LILIES via the emperor
