Your comment hits me hard because of how painfully true it is, especially when witnessing a young person coming to terms with their queer identity and their feelings for a person of the same gender (who may or may not reciprocate). The object of affection holds all the cards. Thankfully, Aya doesn't seem like a cruel person who would pull some wickedness on Mitsuki.

I love how they incorporated the nail polish.

well, for most types removing/changing piercings itself isn't really a big deal, though honestly they do seem like they'd be more of a giveaway if (when) aya looks closer - despite mitsuki's reaction in this chapter, any two people might both use black nail polish, but how many would have that many holes in their ears in the exact same pattern?

OR she could already know she's bi. That'd be a power move by the author and a great inclusion of bisexual characters in a story. Even admitting that young queer people find out about their sexualities before high school, staying away from "teens explore a lot don't they" narrative in most stories.

She's already getting the sense that they have the same air/look alike so perhaps she would think they're siblings instead.... but it would be pretty bad imo if she's like "Can I see your brother?!" and it turns into a really big and complicated lie with no end in sight
