Well maybe instead of waiting 2 years to be attacked she could have tried something on her own. I don't really like shifting the blame like that. Otherwise this was pretty cute. They skipped the 2 years of subtext SoL content and jumped right to the conclusion lol

I never thought about it, but I do love to see a manga about an asexual homoromantic girl.
Ayanero Taicho is quite progressive compared to other authors (his latest yuri hentai had LGBT pride) and this is good, but his lewd scenes are a bit too male-gazed.

I think that perception is a bit off-kilter when talking about hentai. I've seen countless female/lesbian authors who would fit this type of "male-gazed" thing you speak of. In many aspects straight men and lesbians appreciate similar things. The response to this artist's works by female readers are usually positive. If people think it's hot then it probably is. Hentai is seldom realistic about sex, so it's not like accuracy is a big factor.

I'm curious about how people see Ayane's works as male perspective considering the years of lesbian works with scenarios like "we met at a gay pride parade" or "Junko surprises MadoHomu with a lecture about safe sex and dental dams" or "after realizing she was gay, she trimmed her nails." She's streamed games in the past (big From Software fan) and keeps an active diary on her web blog so there are various details there.

There are often preconceptions forming the "Ayane is male" idea that I've seen over the years. For example, in older comment sections here people have freaked out because Ayane was serialized in X-Eros doing het eromanga and published a tankoubon after the fact. Acting as if it was a betrayal or acting snide as if, being 'a male artist', Ayane can just walk away from yuri and yuri fans—which is a hell of a thing to assume considering what it belittles if you're talking about someone who literally can't just 'walk away' from being lesbian!

In the afterword to her tankoubon Ekidare, Ayane writes about how she was approached by an editor with the offer to either do an ecchi manga or do het eromanga. Ayane took the offer to do the former but was later told that deal fell through and only the eromanga deal was left. She took the deal and in the afterword expresses deep satisfaction at having her first commercial erotic lesbian work published, as she had gotten to end it with a yuri chapter ("If a Lie is Told, It Cannot Become Yuri"). It's something to be proud of for sure, yet somehow I see people view it in the most negative light possible.

In my opinion, instead of forming presumptuous ideas such as "this type of pornographic manga can only come from a male artist" that downplay the lived experience of a woman instead, one should seek to understand Ayane's perspective.

Don't get me wrong, I liked it and thought it's hot, and I know some female authors (like Mira) like to draw that kind of scenes.
But even if I think they're hot in hentai or porn, once I tried those postures irl I started to think why it's so common in porn and hentai. Maybe It's just me who had high expectations and felt a bit dissatisfied afterwards, I don't know how to express it.

But again, I don't see male-gazed yuri hentai as a bad thing, but rather as something that a lot of cis men think it's how wlw sex works 100% of the times.

Ayane's depiction of sex is very similar to Mira's yet I never saw anyone commenting Mira is male and/or her drawings are male-gaze-y. Is it because people already know she's female? Double standards? I don't find Mira's depiction of sex appealing, but more because I don't like that kind of over the top porn-y way to draw it in general, not because it's male-centric or something. Fluids, fluids everywhere.

Also fans, especially yuri fans, are very entitled. People look down on hentai and ecchi, despite the fact a lot of artists started there and would probably never begin a carrier if not for that. I get that yuri is niche and having good artist do 1/few works and then stop sucks, but that doesn't mean it's ok to get angry at people for what they draw, especially when you don't know the full circumstances. Some artists simply draw what they enjoy.

Believe me that people encounter with every flavor of porn haha. I get where you're coming from but art comes from a place of expression. For many people, being realistic is not the goal they have in mind when drawing eromanga.

This is my problem with your approach... hentai is not supposed to perfectly replicate real sex. It's a fantasy. This style is neither an indication of the author's sex nor of the type of audience it is meant for. I brought up lesbian artists for a reason (well you already mentioned Mira specifically). This has nothing to do with a male gaze or inexperience, it's an artistic choice. Just like het hentai has completely ridiculous things happen in it, so do ero yuri doujins.

Heck, there are straight female artists who draw yuri and have the exact same lack of experience as many male artists do, yet you wouldn't call it a male gaze there, right? Let's abandon such disastrous terms in the future.

Oh, of course. I never stopped to think about it and sorry if I generated useless drama.

Reminds me of the difference between the movies Blue is The Warmest Color and Portrait of a Lady on Fire.

Lesbian here. To be fair, we get wlw sex wrong sometimes in real-life as well because we automatically think that just cuz we're women, we know 100% what makes women go crazy in bed. Sometimes, it's not just a problem of cismen.

Do we need a Gyaru tag?

I wish it were an existing tag...

Some readers have the preconception that women don't do porn. According to them, that's just how women are: they don't read it, they don't draw it, they are incapable of enjoying it because of some bizarre genetic peculiarity that makes them mentally incompatible with the stuff. It's an agenda thing, I guess, that blatantly ignores reality... to wit, that there are fecking tons of porn by/for women out there, both straight and lesbian, and it sells very well. I myself never doubted that this oneshot was authored by a woman, even tho I didn't know anything about Ayane — just my gut feeling, I guess. It sure feels good to be right, lol.

Wow the art really reminds me of Mira. Especially the face of the squinty eyed woman

The buildup to the story and sex was great but holy shit I can’t get over how they ravage each other’s faces intensely

For some reason, the sex panels remind me of those short thumbnail videos you see on P*rnhub, like certain scenes in the videos, dunno why lol.

I feel like the author wrote the entire manga, just so he could have that scene at the end of them eating hotpot together.

This manga pressed all my right buttons. Really. I mean it. I think I too, like Kei, I am now a little in love with Aki-chan.

Yes, I admit it, I have a weakness for sunny, peppy, sexy gyarus!!! Don't judge me.
I know how you feel, you should read citrus then if you already haven't

Ayanero did not just put a 'when spaghetti gets wet' meme in there. xD

First, we need a Gyaru tag if there isnt already one.

Cant decide if this is wholesomely lewd or lewdly wholesome. This is the type of yuri i need.

Wait, Ayane is the one behind 'If A Lie is Not Told, It Cannot Become Yuri'? Damn, that's one of my faves. Ayane's great at doing popular/gyaru type girls yuri.

I really really liked the situation framing the story but the sex was awful. Like, I got turned off by it. A lot of people are comparing this artist to Mira though, and I really don’t like their work, so I guess that’s it. So much hentai is just people mashing their bodies together without eroticism, I don’t get how it’s successful.

Was it the excessive bodily fluids that squeaked you out? Or the exaggerated sexual organs?

I'm curious.
