The artist who made the manga does animation, it doesn't look like they finished that though.

Thank you all for the animation and art links. They're really lovely.

I love Minus, and I'm really sad that the original website is down now. (Looks like there are mirrors, though)

They calculated that it would be a year until it smashed into the Earth. But it seemed so far away that nobody really believed that it would happen.

Asteroid threat + procrastination = bad end. This reminded me of a certain cautionary tale.

Gosh I can relate to Sakurai. The way she thinks and what she has done to herself that is.

Came here due to it being featured. Did not regret a second of reading it. Wow that was something else.

I always skipped this one before because bullying + tragedy = badger_goes_no-no-no-aaaaa.gif but that turned out to be a false alarm.

Having fun ally read minus, I can safely say that yes this is DEFINITELY referencing that comic. I’d say that all of Rapparu’s works draw some pretty heavy inspiration from that sense of surrealism and casual depictions of mortality. I’m gonna link it because the comic can be a little hard to find.

Crazy Sunshine always starts playing in my head whenever I see that page of Minus, and it brings joy to my life.

No thanks you just ruined my day.

This one gets bullying and angst and it's not a false alarm at all

A tragedy with a happy end? I'm quite okay with that. In fact, I like this one a lot. Here's hoping we get to see more works from Rapparu-sensei.

Speaking scientifically an asteroid that size would've collapsed on earth faster than they think because of the massive gravity it has.
On the mission to destroy it, I'm surprised they tried to destroy something from the surface instead of from the core lmao.
The 2nd attempt to do it is even weirder because there is supposed to be gravity on the asteroid to collect the rubble or leftover after the 1st mission also all the stuff they could humanity only send 1 guy to destroy it, kek.

To be honest even destroying it wouldn't solve the issue as the debris would still fall on Earth and prolly erase all of humanity

A solution though could be to send a nuclear rocket or something on the side of the asteroid as soon as it is detected in outer space, to give a little nudge to its trajectory and make sure it doesn't get trapped in Earth's gravity field

I'm torn on this. For what is essentially a yurified Roland Emmerich disaster movie, the induced anxiety is superb and forms a great backdrop of looming dread for exploring the girl's psyche. That works really, really well. But then there's those interludes of humanity banding together. They are probably meant to be inspiring, but honestly come off as rather comedic. (I mean, us being bumbling idiots is painfully realistic.) With all suspension of disbelief spent on the slow-falling rock, I can't bear the second attempt... Then there's the "I want to kill everyone yet end on a (bitter)sweet note"-ending which feels contrived and adds to the mood backlash.

I think this gets better with time, when you start to forget the weird parts.
