in a way it's slowburn since they still have to tell each other how they feel and how unaware they are of each others feelings (plus they both think that the other hates them so that too)

Don't worry, I get the sense we will get a similar joke in a future chapter. Comedy law says the dad is way to ripped and menacing to be in charge.
