EDIT: i couldn't help myself had to read the raws to make sure, im happy it doesn't have a crappy end then again the dialogue translated might ruin that happy feeling but for now im good

It really depends on the dialog. For all we know Maki is still married and just has an affair.

if its that im gonna throw a fit, screw that

Given Ooshima's work so far, I think it's a pretty unlikely outcome.

yeah know im kinda overreacting but crap like vespa put me on edge lately

I just read the raws and

it does have a happy ending:
When Maki comed to Nico's appartment, Nico notices her ring and asks her if she's getting married. When Maki wants to take off her ring, Nico asks "Are you okay with someone like me?" and Maki answers "I've come to kidnap you" and kisses her.
At the end when Maki leaves, she says "I have to go to work, once I'm done I'll come back and Nico says "Come back safely"

So I guess it is a happy ending indeed :D

epic shreked up by machigai anon aka we uploaded the wrong/pre qc zip. rest assured i made fun of her a ton for it just now

Fixed here, probably.

Thanks for fixing it and sorry for the mix-up :(

This is actually the third part in this anthology.
The order goes like this:
1. Prologue
(lots of unrelated stuff in the anthology)
2. Setting Sun
3. Crystal Sugar and Machine Gun
4. Involuable logic
5. Memai Asteraythem

There's actually an additional dj Ooshima Tomo did that's not really relevant to this anthology but it was included in the raw files we got. It's dedicated to EERR and roughly about 7P but it wasn't uploaded to exhentai.

even tho i just finished watching S1 & S2 of love live, i don't get why ppl are making doujins off of maki x nico. i mean, maki's my favorite one in the group cuz she's so chill & nonchalant but there was barely any interaction between maki x nico. i just wish this doujin was in the actual anime / story.

I heard the manga of this series has a lot of nicoxmaki momenets.

Maybe because people think Kotori knows best.

Jeez this is screwing with the laws of the universe! MAKI CAN'T MARRY A GUY! She likes girls, this doesn't make any sense. I ship her and Nico (my Love Live OTP) but there's no way she'd end up with a guy in any universe.

Side Note: Funny how Muse members in School Idol Festival fall in love with you when you max out their bond points... and your an academy student... And it's an all girls school.

The manga practically has moments for every kind of pairing.

LOOOOOL!

Anyway, I believe in this pairing, too, but I started to being a fan of its only after the second season. Hope the story in this dojinshi will get more intense.

Is it just me or do they not seem really happy? Plus "What I had truly desired faded away at some point." I don't know how to take that, could someone enlighten me xD

I don't know I had a hard time following the narrative, I guess it will make more sense when all chapters come out, since the latest one doesn't really seem like it's before 'Inviolable Logic'

I don't know I had a hard time following the narrative, I guess it will make more sense when all chapters come out, since the latest one doesn't really seem like it's before 'Inviolable Logic'

'Inviolable Logic' is a flashback to just before Nico's graduation. Chronologically it's (probably?) the first chapter in this doujin compilation, but in placement it comes after the other two chapters which have been scanlated so far.

The progression from 'Setting Sun' -> 'Crystal Sugar and Machine Gun' is pretty straightforward, and the connection to the "reservation" Nico made in 'Inviolable Logic' as well. The one aspect I'm still presently unsure about is the "crystal candy" which has been constantly mentioned throughout all the chapters.

(Incidentally, just a tiny bit of trivia about crystal candy which may or may not be common knowledge, but is presented as such in the story: when broken, crystal candies glow in the dark due to an effect called triboluminescence.)

I'm not sure whether it's something from the School Idol game continuity, earlier doujins in this series, or some other source, but the way it's presented in this story, my assumption is that when the three 3rd years in Muse graduated, all of the group members shared out some crystal candy as a memorial present. Because crystal candy doesn't expire, they'd have the opportunity sometime down the road to get together and enjoy the light effects together.

Together with Maki's crystal candy, Nico gave Maki additionally a "reservation" for a key to their future house, claiming she'd come to sweep her off her feet after she became a super idol. And that's basically where the story starts.

I'll admit that the ending to this latest chapter is kinda ambiguous and doesn't seem yet to be necessarily positive. But presumably that's what the final (chronological) chapter is for. Thus far I gotta say I'm enjoying this series really a freakin' lot, and that's because it's actually tackling a scenario of Nico and Maki as adults, out of highschool (with actually realistic familial, social and professional pressures!), and that's not something you can often get with subtext pairings out of anime series.

I see, thanks for the explanation. It's clearer now, but still the ending wasn't really happy or positive. At least to me it seemed that way. I guess the last chapter will make it more clearer what they are thinking, because in this one it was like they were going through the motions and not because they wanted it, for Maki it looked that way at least.

Couldn't help but think that the name 'Nico' kinda ruined the atmosphere there. It sounded a bit silly.

You can blame EERR, because this isn't out of order. These are EERR's storytelling mechanics right here.

I thought that Maki was going through the motions of getting married and at the end she decided that wasn't right for her and went to be with Nico. Well...that's what I got out of it!

I also like how they show that Nico wasn't a total success and that she is like most (I imagine) people who try to pursue fame...busting her ass with minor roles and stuff hoping for that break. You don't see that too often!

Yeah, she was going through the motions of getting married, but I meant the stuff with Nico at the end like she went from a thing she didn't like to a thing she didn't like a bit less than getting married to someone. I guess I'm saying her expressions weren't that emotional if even were (the page before the last seems like she has tears but before that just a blank look).

The reason why it feels a little disconected is that EERR style of storytelling and she/he usually draw the girls the way that they look 'unhappy' even when they are happy. Probably EERR and Ooshima Tomo are awere of this so the next chapter (the Tomo one) starts with a summary. Still, I like his/her style, and give us enough information to know the basics. As I understand, the plot is:

1.Nico overworks and ends in the hospital were she is reunited with Maki after years of lack of contact.
2. Maki tries to act distant at first, but she is pretty much still in love with her. Nico also tries to distance herself as eluding the memory of the promise of reuniting when se becomes a Super Idol.
3.They fight. But is not until she is out of the hospital that Nico realises that Maki waited for her all this years.
4. Nico becomes resolved and decides to enter a contest show for washed up celebrities. She is in a decent position, but not close of what she promised to Maki (a house bigger than hers) so the contest will have little effect if she wins and losing will mean that she would end as a laughing stock.
5. Maki glimpses the show while eating with her fiance and her family. Her marriage is pretty much an idea of her family that she goes along even when she hates it. Seeing Nico in the show makes her realise that this life is not what she wanted (and I hope that what she ended saying with the "I am..." is GAY)
6. Maki runs outside crying, realising that she went against her family wishes and with not place to go. Until she founds the candy box that she give to Nico in the hospital, now with a direction to Nico apartment.
7. They get reunited. If I need to bet knowing what they do in the next chapter, I would guess that the "faded dream" is not talking about the current moment but how they forgot about her dreams and wasted years of their lives as they were doing what "they are supposed to do" to get close to that dream. Both were living in comfortable lives but unhappy with themselves until they remembered that promise with the crystal candy

Sorry for the bad english :p
