The mention of "at first sight" suggests this is their first encounter, the way she refers to her ("this punk in my grade")
suggests they aren't close, whereas in the original, they definitely were. Also the way the delinquent gets flustered by the advance, but in the previous comic, she was the aggressor and happy to kiss the honor student just to provoke a reaction suggests that things are less developed here.
I definitely get strong prequel vibes here.
