Yeah, I interpreted as she took the money and felt like a piece of shit after hearing Sara turn it down. I guess I could see it as she found out about the cocoon thing for the first time (Sensei never told her).
Why not take the money and share it with her? So now instead of both being rich and in love, both are poor and in love, sounds like an awful deal~
Iris said that the money is compensation for being fed on by a monster. If Sara accepted it after that, it'd amount to saying that she sees Iris as a monster. Or at least that's the way she's probably thinking of it.
It's all coming together. Now I get why one of the first chapters was so heavy/sad. I knew it was gonna be a tragedy just didn't know how or when it would matter. This is actually pretty awesome.

Welp... is like Takano-sensei just stared at a flowerbed in a park, saw a flower and a butterfly and thought: "Yeah, I can make yuri out of that." and then a kid ran over and destroyed the flower... "Yeah, I can make soul crushing yuri out of that."

Jeez that's pretty messed up but I can't help but laugh. Something about that "Yes, this works too" imagery is just too hilarious.
