The "Just leave it to mommy!" Bit killed me.... And now that is my headcanon name for her.

"...You have to get the hang of your little gay heart sometime."

One of the best line I've ever read in any manga.

So Takagi calls Samezu "Mari" on page 43 (9), but then she calls her "Maki" on page 56 (22). Which one is right?

Agh I'm shipping Samezu and Sahara. I just love that type of dynamic. I hope they also end up being revealed as a couple haha.

I just freaking love these lines, great stuff.

Not really a fan of this so far. The characters all feel really "flat" and emotionless. Maybe it's the art style. It's all just generally really bland. I didn't feel anything at all from the kiss at the end. The characters personalities also feel really artificial and inconsistent.

that corporate bigwigs announcing the shutdown of the game part was hilarious.
I'm sure the author isn't writing this out of their experience this time.

Dunno, I'm too skeptical on this.

The art style is terrible. It is not the level of amateur like Tamamusi used to be (which is just cute and charming).

Also the story is pretty... abrupt?

It is lacking something.

But well, I don't mind continue reading this.

I quite like the art style actually, what's so terrible about it?

I'll be honest, I don't see anything especially wrong with the art here either. Yes, it's not Lily Love or Tima's works, but it's not Miniature Garden Cosmos either. I think it would be better if there were more attention to the backgrounds, but there's nothing inherently bad about the characters themselves. I rather like Takagi's look, in fact.

I really hope Mochida remains the (arguably) supportive friend like she is now. I feel like those are rare. More yuri series need characters with friends that actually support and encourage them rather than friends that turn out to be frienemy love interest BS.

This manga actually has some amazingly written dialogue (not sure whether that praise goes to the original Japanese author, the translators, or both). It's funny to see some folks ditch the manga over its art when its dialogue is so uniquely entertaining.

Mochida confirmed surprisingly savage, awesome

Mochida is rapidly becoming my favorite character in this story.

One thing I do like is there's no "but we're both girls" here, at least on Kaori's part. In fact it seems like there's none on Takagi's part either, she's more confused as to why she got a kiss at all. The fact of Kaori being gay being treated so matter-of-factly is refreshing.

Yeah Kaori is just genuinely gay in the Japanese? Sure, we don't quite get her calling herself ビアン or anything but her and Mochida make explicit references to her having a type of girl she likes and having consistent romantic issues with girls even in the original. It is legit kind of unusual, yeah! I wonder if it comes from being a doujinshi artist who consistently draws a lot of gay porn etc.

Also I really like Mikanuji's noodle-y art? That being said she's also consistently incompetent with screentone - even this series has some errors of hers involving it.

There are definitely some of issues with the art style aside from just bland BG & chara designs, such as stiff gestures and poses along with some perspective issues (like in the first panel of page 60). The biggest problem is probably how the faces and bodies don't match up quite nicely. The faces are pleasantly drawn while the bodies just look awkward sometimes because of the stiff poses. It's amateurish and basic, sure, but it's serviceable & tbh, this is a problem with a lot of mangaka & especially yuri mangaka in general, so I don't see what's the fuss about :/

Story-wise, yeah, it's choppy and mediocre so far. But ah well, still serviceable.

The first panel of page 60 shows how she's entering the room and at the same time showing what she sees (I've seen it before in other manga), the mangaka is not an idiot to make a mistake like that. Stiff poses? yeah, but I'm already used to reading manga without perfect drawings (everyday since I started reading manga)... And the story, I'm entertained! very much, if you find it mediocre I guess we won't see you around here anymore because what kind of person willingly waste time with something bad?

I had to say that because when I was reading, it never crossed my mind to criticize the art like it's something that really stands out, I'm the one who can't see what's the fuss about it.

Yeah, page 60 is a common technique in manga, the characters aren't being shown in the room, they're superimposed over a view of the room. Most readers will understand that they're actually meant to be in the doorway.

I'm used to seeing said technique when the characters are drawn over the panels and not a part of any panel, but yeah, you're right about page 60.

Mediocre =/= bad for me. Mediocre means it's average and why I said it's serviceable.

Since I'm reading a manga, the art is part of the presentation, so I do critique it in my head. That's just me though.

Mikan's, in a sense, just starting out -- I think this is the first thing she's done not self-published?! But I think her writing is very strong, and something I hope to see out of more newcoming yuri authors, ones who can cite authors like Takemiya Jin or works like Kindred Spirits as major influences (i.e., shit that is extremely unapologetically gay).

This. The gestures aren't very dynamic, and the expressions are flat and boring. The art style is really generic, basically. Characters are super boring as well.

Although, the one-liners like "You're an adult. You have to get the hang of your little gay heart sometime," are fantastic. However, one-liners aren't gonna keep me interested in this manga. I honestly can't see myself still being buckled in for it by chapter three or four.

I dunno, it is doing good enough I'll read it whenever it comes out. Unless something I don't like happens story-wise that is, but really....I wish there was so much content for me to consume that there would be some real competition here but there's not. It's good enough and that's all that really matters.

So sad, but so true. The lack of original yuri series is agonizing.

whu? I mean I have my hang ups. I'm picky as hell. but I don't think I'd go as far as to call it agonizing. huh.

I think the drunk thing has been enough but what we got out of was still a really sweet scene. The supporting characters are turning out to be fun too. I actually like this story more than the ones that go along with some of the profile pics in this thread.

Maybe I didn't express myself correctly. True, some people have amateurish art style, but I do know that a lot of original Yuri are doujins, which are usually drawn by non-professional artists. However, even so, the art style of an amateur has its own charm (like Tamamusi's old stuffs, look sketchy but not really choppy and weird). I also don't fuss so much on body proportions, as long as it looks natural enough.

However, in this series, you can easily see some terrible drawings. Without nitpicking, I can see page 36 (that weird elbow, no, seriously, try to pose it, it is weird), page 56 (Mochida's right arm in top-right panel is... a few inches too long?), page 63 (that hug scene is also weird, and those hands are rough - similar hands can be seen throughout the story), page 64 (the hug lacks some contact, dunno, she is supposed to be drunk and she just dragged her crush on bed, it is weird to have some distance). If just me nitpicking, I can see page 39, 40, 47, 53, 57 which are also... bad.

I have terrible art myself, so I can tell that the artist's style is somewhat similar to mine. Same weird hands, body proportions, poses and choppy flow.

It might be weird to say this, but the art lacks depth and emotion to draw out the charm for the story.
